The fanbase was divided under Martinez, and since then that divide has just grown wider and wider every season, to the point where now fans revel in the in-fighting and getting one up on each other. You’ve got to either be on one side of the fence or the other regarding managers and players, and must defend that position to the hilt or you’ll get ripped by the opposing side which will severely dent your pride. No one is united behind actually wanting the best for Everton, it’s all self-preservation. It’s been a big problem with Arsenal fans lately with the Wenger divide, but ours is just as toxic.

It's just a vicious circle at the moment. We've been served up rubbish for years and that breeds further impatience when we actually need to be supportive and realistic.

This season is about gradual improvement between now and May. Lay a platform for next season. Get them moulded into a team playing front foot football with a better balance. Then further rebuild the squad next summer and put a proper challenge against the top 6. People still obsessed with how much we spent instead of what we did with it. We aren't ready to compete. We are worse than 2 years ago. This needs a season of hard graft to get the thing back pointing in the right direction.

I don't mind booing myself but it should be reserved for full time or Sam Allardyce.

If people could accept this then we might see an improvement in the match going experience.

We are moving finally in the right direction. People needs to get off Marcos back and give him a chance . We have a good squad now albeit a top quality centre forward and are playing some good football which wasn’t the case last year . The squad needs to gel and keep introducing more quality over the next 2 windows . This will put us in place to finally start to challenge for top 4 . All of the negative people on here either didn’t go to many games last or just have short memories !! Last year was dire ! This is way way better ... keep it up marco and keep improving us .

7th 2 seasons ago 8th last season 10th = gone backwards with the huge amount of money spent. The only way up is to get 7th in the league and hoping to build on and break into top 6 next season. I don’t see how an average 10th 11th place side will suddenly turn out good after a summer.

We're a better team than all the teams we've played at home this season, yet only won 2 of them. They deserve the criticism.

I'm sure we're all deeply saddened that you dont want to be associated with us.

If we were the better team we should have won the games
No point in thinking you are the better team if you can’t prove it on the pitch
Football is played on grass not paper
We will be a much better team than those we have played at home so far but it will take time
