7th 2 seasons ago 8th last season 10th = gone backwards with the huge amount of money spent. The only way up is to get 7th in the league and hoping to build on and break into top 6 next season. I don’t see how an average 10th 11th place side will suddenly turn out good after a summer.

We won’t finish 10th or 11th, we will be at least 8th more than likely 7th.

There’s no need for the bed wetting now, if the league position is all that matters then at least wait until later in the season, not 7 games in when we’re a couple of places what you’d call acceptable anyway.

Hope you’re right. Looking forward to see the team preform with all the injured players back.

Good win today. Could have been different if they'd scored first. Something looks goofy about the high line set up as we've ended up overloaded at the back a few times this season.
Going forward we looked good and didn't have to rely on Richarlison(who had a poor game by the standards he's set this season). Gets credit also for making the change up top before the hour mark unlike most other managers we've had.

We’re 11th after 7 games. He deserves every bit of criticism he is getting.

It's fair enough mate. However last 4 seasons we've got 47, 48, 62 and 48 points. The season we got 62 we had a lad score 25 goals who was moved on and we reverted back to 48 points. Thats about 11th place.

Within the 7 games we've played 2 of them with 10 men for an hour or so. The likelihood is we are 4 points better off had we kept 11 on the pitch (one is poor officiating, one is a stupid decision). That's not to say these results should be inked in, but it's quite a freakish series of results/performances to have 2 games out of 7 disrupted due to red cards.

You also have to acknowledge, for whatever reason we got signings in late. The lads we've brought in have made a big difference. Digne and Richarlinson have been a big upgrade. Zoom has also looked a lot better than our centre halves last season.

We have 2 signings who've not kicked a ball and another 1 who hasn't started a game. I think when these 3 are settled in you will again see a significant improvement in team performance. I also think as Zouma gets more match fit you should see an improvement in his play.

I suppose all of these reasons are things I would say are important to note when looking at a sample size of 8 games (7 league games).

He doesn’t, he deserves a lot of credit for already giving us an attacking style we can be proud of after the way we embarrassed ourselves last year. The excellent transfer buisness he’s done in Digne, Richarlson, Zouma and Bernard with more I expect to come and completely changing the mentality of the club so we actually go out to try and win games.

Idiots criticising him after 7 games for exactly what your saying whilst ignoring the good work he’s clearly doing are a massive problem to this club. Fortunately, apart from message boards, the idiots don’t make themselves heard on a daily basis.

If we’re 11th at the end of the season you can ask the question and even then you only evaluate the whole job and see how it’s going.

This year is about implementing a system and producing a team playing in a style to challenge the top 6 next season.

That was never going to happen overnight and we may take some collateral damage along the way but we’ll still finish 7th whilst doing so.

I remember under Moyes we started well, then had a dip, then round October time we went on a good run. Maybe the same happens again.

My gut feeling is we get better as the season goes on and the players we have brought in who are much better than what we have get into the team.

Based on the criteria you and others appear to be applying to our current manager I can only assume you’d have demanded Kendall’s dismissal before he had completed a full season.
At least I waited for a full 24 months before adopting that erroneous position.:)
Managers need seasons not weeks to prove their worth.
Patience is required.
Takes me back.

We have not seen Mina and Gomes.
Bernard (who looks great) is not fully fit, Seamus is injured, Richarlison and Digne are just settling in.
What's not to like.?
This year is a transitional year , and I think that we will finish between 5th and 8th, despite refereeing benefits to those above us, and our inevitable ongoing injuries.
I think the new regime are showing the green shoots of recovery !

The ease teams get through us is still alarming. We looked better yesterday in defense but still those brain fart moments like the sessegnon chance and the one pickford came and smothered. Theres always going to be chances for the opposition but we've definitely made it too easy for teams this season.

I keep coming back to gana, while he played well yesterday, his game is essentially running around like a headless chicken. Theres only so far that can take you imo. Big positive from yesterday was the centre back pairing, they seem to be getting comfortable with each other now and Keane is finally starting to look like the player we wanted from Burnley.

Silvas changed our entire mentality in less than 10 games. How many shots did we have yesterday? Something like 12 or 13 corners too. Compared to last season it's a stark contrast. We've dropped points this season and been unlucky with decisions/generally unlucky. I hope we go into the big games with the same approach we did at arsenal as we lost that game purely on a combination of bad finishing and bad luck. We are on the way to being where we want to be I think, theres a direction and style now that we've been missing since Martinez left. Still early days by far more positives than negatives imo

That’s why we end up with caretaker managers like Allardyce and always being in transition.

Silva’s already shown well enough to warrant some breathing room.

What exactly are your expectations in his first season anyway, seeing as it’s a results buisness??

Going off KTR’s normal posts I reckon the list will be thus, as a minimum:

League
FA Cup
Caraboa Cup
World Cup
The Ashes
Ryder Cup
The Boat Race
WBA Heavyweight title
Kentucky Derby
Wimbledon
F1 Championship
World Superbikes
Olympics
Mastermind
The National
Postcode Lottery
WW3
The Great British Bake Off
Masterchef
Tour de France

Anything else is failure.

Spot on.
These FIFA type games have a lot to answer for.

Got to give them an a bit more time, let’s see where we are at the end of October, by that point we will be 10 games in and will have some idea if we are more likely to be top half or bottom half
