Squad value has nothing to do with it though. Burnley have a tried and tested system over a number of seasons that suits them and their players all fit into it and compliment each other when playing. We have a collection of players(like our midfield) who can't really play together and don't compliment each other. We have had 4 managers in a short space of time all of whom play a different way so we don't really have a proper system as yet, 2 of our summer signings hav'nt even played yet. Marco Silva was not my first choice as manager but you have got to give the guy some time to try and put his ideas across to the players.
I heard today that 12 of Burnley’s 14 wins were by a single goal last season
Fine margins indeed
Concede another 6 goals over the season and that’s 12 points dropped
Burnley got lucky with us in disarray , Leicester no better and the rest being generally poor
Any 3 from 9 could have gone down last year

And Klopp signed 9 of the 11 players that started against Spurs
Only Milner from the first team squad that twas there when he arrived , started last Saturday
TAA came from the youths
If you are citing Klopp as an example at least give Silva the same opportunity to sign his own team as Klopp did
Look at the money Klopp spent and wasted a lot of it to get where he is today
Take out the Couthino sale and he has spent the guts of 250m net

Get what your saying mate but Klopp was a proven title winner in a good league where he built a fantastic side that got to a CL final. Silva on the other hand has won a title in a one horse farmer league.

Yes Silva is young and he needs time but I've seen nothing to suggest he's anything more than a manager who couldn't keep Hull up and looked good at Watford who always start seasons well (see this season). His defensive record in the league is shocking as is his sides disciplinary record and I think unless we strike lucky with a shock Lukaku esque centre forward signing to compliment Richarlison and Walcott that we'll struggle to finish 8th never mind 7th.

I would be happy with 8th after what i have seen so far.

Agreed. So we finish 12th this season instead of 7th. I'm confident if we stick with Silva and back him in a couple more transfer windows we'll be able to challenge the top 6 next season.

Being rubbish aka 12th this season doesn’t guarantee you can have the 7th place trophy easily next year. I don’t understand why so many fans believe it’s ok to be trash in the first season. It’s like a cycle. Whenever things are not going in our way, some would say it’s a learning curve we will be fine next season and so on. With this squad Silva must do better than fat Sam there really has no excuse.

I agree with the squad we have 7 th should be attainable with the proviso that the first 11 stay available all season
What the last few games have shown is the depth is not in the squad
We are painfully short of cover in most areas.
Unbelievably after last season the left side is our strongest both in starters and cover
Our first 11 when all up to speed should be good enough to beat most teams outside the top 6! home and away
We have real pace up front along with a bit of magic (Bernard) and Hopefull more solidity at the back with 3 new signings and HKeane and Holgate as back up
I can see some real good performances with a couple of teams getting a good hiding this season
Unfortunately I can see a few more games like Sunday when certain players are unavailable

More of less agree with you on this. The backup are the problem. If we play full strength team week in week out we should get 7th comfortably.
