7th should be an aim that’s achievable. Everton and Leicester look to have the best squads for 7th. Though you’ll always get a surprise like Burnley. Maybe that’s Watford or Bournemouth this year.
A lot of money has been spent but all by different managers. You need concerted spending under the same strategic vision for it to bear fruit. Koeman, Walsh and Allardyce, with some Silva, have in parts put this squad together. All play a very different style of football and as such you have players in the squad that are inadequately suites to the new tactics. On top of that you’ve got players adjusting to a very different system. It’s going to take time. But people advacoting Silva’s sacking or him dumping his ideals to play in a way ithat isn’t what brought him success is madness. It’s 5 games into a season! A season that’s about laying the foundations. We do that well then maybe a Top6 challenge is possible next year. Top 4 is 2-3 seasons away if everything goes to plan. And by going to plan that doesn’t mean you see immediate results. Wouldn’t be surprised if we are bottom half in January. If the fans give the manager time then we could see big improvement in the 2nd half of year. Acting like spoilt children and calling for the managers head after 5 games? Grow up will yers
