James McCarthy

You responded to a post about interceptions and ball winning stats. I was simply citing those stats to show you that you were mistaken because you were. I’m not being selective, I couldn’t give a flip about any of these stats. You made the post. I have no problem if you think McCarthy is or was a better player, but your post was inaccurate.
I didn't ask for those stats I simply stated "Go and compare McCarthy's stats in his first season here with either of those two clowns."...you then pulled out two and left the rest one side...most of which McCarthy was superior in - as I underlined.

You've been selective.

Hey, it happens.

It's often remarked players become better when they are out of the team.

That being said I do think McCarthy gives us certain things when at his best we lack. He has an energy and an intelligence of when to press, as well as being a bit of a leader who seems to enjoy raising his game against better opposition.

I'm not making the case he's Dave Watson or Brian Labone levels of leadership either, but we lack lads who are prepared to have a go when the going gets tough, I think McCarthy is good at that.

Oh i do agree 13/14 McCarthy is better than any midfielder we have. Even Gana

The problem is 14/15 McCarthy wasn't, and MCCarthy since then has probably only played 15 games since then.

So to think we would get 13/14 McCarthy back directly after a broken leg is absolutely ridiculous

Thats all's fair. I think the odd games he has played he has looked more Mccarthy 13/14 than the later imitations. The issue is it's a smaller sample size. I don't think the broken leg may impact this badly, but do have concerns over his hamstring and ability to go full pelt.
