10/10 for getting rid of the gum chewing bus parker.

1/10 for the wild expectations of the impatient unrealistic folk that litter our fanbase.

Seriously, people. Did you really think the terrible damage of the last few years of mismanagement would be fixed in a few weeks?

This is not going to be an easy season. I expect we will have to put up with a lot of games like the last one.

In gardening metaphor terms, there are some signs of promise, with new growth and buds appearing, but there is still some weeds to pull and deadwood to cut out before we see anything resembling a flowerbed. This season will help define what sort of gardener we have hired this time.

Still too early to rate him just yet.

Presently, he's looking very much like an uphill gardener.

I hope before the end of the year, he realises he's got to stop pushing plonkers into the zonal hole.

I think those with different opinions and rating the season differently are indeed calling a spade a spade in the face of sensationalist rubbish about it being a poor start to the season.

We've used a raft of defensive combinations already and those being rotated in and out are trying to get their heads round zonal marking.

Soton just snotted Palace away. Yet we beat Soton. Chelsea toiled for 60m vs Chelsea. Wolves drew with City.

It's nonsense to suggest we are anything but a work in progress. And as such we'll be inconsistent, compounded by the fact everyone seems to be getting injured or sent off.

How did it pan out in the end.....did Chelsea eventually wear Chelsea down :pint2:

Unbeaten so far and at home to a team who hasn't got a single point on the board yet. And you think they will be looking at this game as a relatively easy 3 points.

words fail me

Look at how we lost a 2 goal lead and only drew at home against 2 of the weakest teams in the leagues over the last two weeks.. So yes, I think West ham will see us as a great chance to get 3 points...

Can't really tell, Jags sending off completely changed the game against Wolves. Southampton wasn't a great performance, but we just about won the game. I think the Bournmouth game was very worrying, as it shows how easy we can mess up a game, which is a bit worrying when we have to play Arsenal, United, City, Liverpool and Chelsea away from home on the run. Huddersfield was just one of those days when a team is determined to get a draw and sits back, it's very hard to brak down a team like that. While Tosun is an alright player, I don't think he has enough influence on games, like Lukaku did. I still thing we should of brought in another 25 million striker and put DCL on loan. I'm still not sure on snides, Davies and a few others. We're still miles away from the top 6, but not as bad as last season, which doesn't say much. I'd give us a 5/10.

Solid 6 so far.

Lows

Having 10 men away from home never helped but drawing in winning positions after a loss of a man feel hard done by.

Huddersfield draw explains why we need more strength in depth upfront.

No clean sheet of late.

Zonal marking tactically not favoured at the moment.

Highs

New signing already making an impact with Richarlison proving a player already and on his way to justification of his fee.

Team despite down to 10 showing more fight and attacking in 2 seasons.

Through to the next round of the League Cup which helps build momentum.

This is the West Ham who also gave up two leads so far this season. But whereby we managed to draw our games after having a man sent off in the first half of each, they lost both their games where they went ahead. They have also lost both of their home games against the two teams we have managed to get away draws against, despite have the players sent off in the first half.

Yes we should be shaking in our boots.

They go into this game under much more pressure than we do. How you can think otherwise is crazy.

Far too soon to make any kind of assessment. The players are adapting to new system, trying to win games must come as a shock after the last while. New players bedding in and new recruits yet to take the field. If the new management could transform us into a top six team in the short time and with the personnel they have had at their disposal they would be miracle workers.
We are better than we were, we play better football, we have rid ourselves of people who were a drain on the club and with the players we now have at our disposal we can improve significantly.
The direction of travel is right, lasting improvement takes time or buckets of money.

Our next six are:

West Ham (H)
Arsenal (A)
Southampton (H) (League Cup)
Fulham (H)
Leicester (A)
Palace (H)

Anything less than 6-8 points and place in the 4th Round of the cup and that's another poor return. We could be in a less-than-ideal situation if we head into November still looking far from convincing whilst the difficulty of the fixtures on paper starts ramping up.

Wtf?!

It’s only just September
You’ve been here long enough to know the bedwetters like to make the most of the Sept weather to dry their sheets and then wet then again
In the summer there was an overwhelming majority of fans saying Silva needed at least a season before he could be judged , now its knives out after 4 games and only one of his signings playing a significant role
Madness

But at this point who's fault is that? we've known Sam was going and Marco and Marcel were in so the finger should have been pulled out a little sooner on purchases, smacks of "Ronald like" buying, wanted Siggy and spent far too long chasing him, we did the same with a couple of guys this window too, sure we need alot of changes in the squad and they can't be done overnight and expect results but we all knew we needed defenders and ones who could start week one
We bought loads early on the window last year and had a great season
Or did we
Give the man and his new players time
We waited because
A) It was a WC year
B) Brands wanted certain players and stuck to his buns
C) As to the Siggy anology , we walked away from the Tierney deal.
Comparing this years window to last years is ludicrous.

Yes we could have signed CBeho could have started in week one and would probably have been booed by week 3
I don’t think anybody can complain about the quality of the CBs we brought in
