Usmanov

Whilst I do enjoy a good hype bandwagon im not really sure why people are getting so excited at the prospect of this given its literally impossible to do a City or Chelsea now that financial fair play exists.
Depends what you mean. It's impossible to go and lump £500m of an individual's own money on players in one transfer window, yes.

There is nothing stopping that individual from sticking that £500m on a new stadium.

There's also very little (apart from some pretty wishy washy rules regarding "fair market value") from an individual signing massive sponsorship deals between their club and one of their companies.

There are ways round it, ground naming rights, commerical partners - as you can see what we did with Finch Farm.

Also, Moshiri is a really, really, good accountant.

Reckon he will only come once we’ve got planning permission myself. Once that happens he will get on board will make financial sense.

Wonder what our evil overlord Bill is thinking here..... big pay day for him coming up for the rest of his shares the complete and utter worm.

I don't mind *some* of their analysis (more on the commercial side, and I agree with some of the things they support, like DoF having a seat on the board and the appointment of a Fan Engagement Officer), but they've been woefully off track on every stage when it comes to Usmanov.

The money side of things is very good, that was always what Esk excelled at, he knew the money side wonderfully.

But, well, anyway, no need to go any further really, I aint about that life no more.

Ask City if the FFP Rules are breakable.

Because it's Everton.

'Consider' doesn't necessarily mean for definite. For all we know he could be 'considering' 4/5 other clubs.

Oh forget the 'It's Everton' mantra. Old hat.

He left a parting shot at Kroenke upon his sale. There is only one club that he can invest in that will really stick it to the man who kept him away from the power table of the club he wanted to propel to the top.

That's us.

I understand the reluctance to get too overconfident but not your complete dismissal that it could happen.

There are a number of things pointing to it being a likely scenario.
  • The sponsorship of Finch Farm.
  • Quotes from Moshiri about how close they are. No other club as far as I am aware has anyone with a link to Usmanov as much as Moshiri does
  • Considerable transfer spending each window
  • Him now being free of scrutiny that he would have been under whilst at Arsenal, and now able to openly put money in to EFC (or another club).
  • Him now mentioning us by name and having an interest
