It really astounds me the negativity of some posters on here. You have one blokeon another thread talking about how poor and how rushed our transfer business has been this season, another one (prior to the deadline day) talking about sacking Silva and this one talking about what happens if we suffer six straight defeats!!!
Tell you what guys, how about we look at the obvious pedigree and quality we have managed to get into the club in such a short time?
We have a potentially excellent partnership in Brands and Silva. I raise a glass to them so far and I’m looking forward to an exciting season ahead.

Good policy if in place.
Agree with that - "more worried about the fans getting on his and the teams back than Silva actually failing."
Someone will disagree with me, of course, but I know I'm on the right lines here. There are groups who want him to fail before he's even begun. Be it those who didn't want him because he's 'flavour of the month,' those who can't see past the 'Martinez-like' comparisons (which are lazy and unfounded) and those who are disillusioned with us as a whole because of last season.
You could see yesterday from the way he spoke that if the team fails, it won't be because he hasn't been backed in the market or anything like but because it just hasn't worked. And if it doesn't work and it's not utterly terrible - and I'm talking a genuine relegation battle here - as long as it looks like there are signs of progress, let him carry on.
This is no quick fix. I think everyone should know that. Silva and Brands absolutely do and that to me is the most important part about it.
Let him get on with the job. Back him. Let's see how it unfolds.

I’d agree with your first paragraph, except... Allardyce...He wasnt my choice, I defo wasnt a fan, but I saw his qualities and im willing to get behind him 100%, I always do, I dont understand holding a grudge or not supporting the manager cos he wasnt my choice. Hes the manager of Everton, if he succeeds im happy every week, so what else is there to do?
Hes got some potentially very good players to work with here, but its going to take time for them to adjust, for them to buy into the tactics, so im willing to give him time, as much time as needed. Last summer I could see the problems we had as a team, the squad was an utter mess, this season I like what I see, sure I would like more depth and quality up top and in the middle of the park and I do have a few concerns regarding some players, but how can you not be excited about whats to come?
Agree with all this and strangely enough, it feels like there is an appetite for this too.
Let's not forget Koeman was allowed a 2 in 12 run in his first season that basically got waved through. Where it turned for him was that he had clearly given up and had hosed huge chunks of the club's money in the second season.
Even for Martinez - who many of us despised before he was even appointed - it took until the third season for the venom to really start.
As long as Silva shows the right attitude - rather than aptitude - he will be given two season by the fanbase. Allardyce wasn't tolerated because his behaviour was rank from almost the first day.

Big fan of how this has drawn serious responses from you two.
Well said fellas.

Spot on, but you`ve missed out the Allardyce fan club ( they know who they are ), who are waiting like vultures in the wings, praying that Silva fails.
We need some continuity and stability or we`ll just lurch from one manager / crisis to another, bleeding money along the way.
He needs time to rebuild, implement his own style of play and just as importantly he needs the backing and patience from the fans.
He's going to try and implement his style - different to what we've had before - with a squad of remanents from our last four managers, who had their own different styles from each other.
If we start well. Brilliant. If we win today, great. But it'll take time. We won't see the start of this until Brighton/Huddersfield in a few weeks time.
As for the Allardyce Apologists who can't wait? This game ain't for them.
But we as a forum can help.
When the bedwetters come on after a defeat or when we havent played well, we as a forum should just stick them on ignore.
I realise its a forum and opposite views should be heard and all that, but no, not for me, if somebody only wants to spread misery, then I wont be reading what they have to say.
Dave gets a pass cos he completes me.
"if we get pumped in a Derby) but generally, support can be a sort of tacit agreement.
