I think that the process seemed to have plenty of cohesion, as for the first time in what seems a long time, the manager identified areas where we required new incomers (not that it was difficult) and the recruitment team actioned it and delivered. The cohesion on the post that you quoted, in my opinion has little reason to be questioned. The result of it, well, that we don't yet know. I'm excited to find out though.
You're excited to find out whether the claimed cohesion has actually taken place, surely?

That's my point.

Gomes

16/17 season - 47 appearances (2652 minutes)
17/18 season - 31 appearances (1185 minutes)

Zouma

16/17 season - 17 appearances (802 minutes)
17/18 season - 37 appearances (3127 minutes)

Bernard

16/17 season - 37 appearances (2409 minutes)
17/18 season - 29 appearances (2242 minutes)

Apart from Gomes last season as Barca brought in Paulinho I'd say non of them are being rescued from any circumstances.
They're not wanted and Everton is as good a move as they could get. Of course they've been rescued.

Demonstrably untrue, unless you count “stuffing the squad with number 10’s” as restructuring.
It's not hard for any fan to identify who needs to leave and then let them go on favourable loan terms for the club loaning them; and it's not difficult using a market in players who are surplus to requirements at their existing clubs.

Shooting fish in a barrel I'd call it, especially if you've got the ability to pay good wages.

So you think we should be able to attract players that are wanted by their clubs? Mid table finishes and no European football surprisingly isn't a draw to most footballers.

That cant possibly be determined yet.
For now, I am judging him on players in and out. He's done as well as could be expected. Get a couple more out before the loans and euro transfer window shuts and he's done well.

Then I don't expect to hear much from him at all. Good business in the next few windows with minimum of fuss supporting Silva and strengthening the team.

And if it comes to the worst case scenario, rapidly securing Silva's replacement and showing leadership to resolve any such issues.

Oh Dave, you are such a hypocrite. You are the ONE that has prejudged Marcel Brands since the second he walked into the club.

OK. You don't like the DoF system and would rather have the dying breed that is a football minded CEO. That's fair, you're entitled to your opinion. But, having made the decision to go down the DoF route, any true Evertonian would at least give him the opportunity to do his job and WANT him to be successful.

But you?, not a chance. You have been nothing but critical throughout this transfer window, jumping on any slightest opportunity to have a dig at Brands, such as that ridiculous dummy out of the pram Joyce article the other day. Make no mistake, Brands has delivered this transfer window, in a way that our fans haven't seen for a long long time. He has brought in players of proven quality to cover the positions the manager wanted. It's a case of well done Marcel, now over to you Marco to make it work on the pitch.
I have to concede the point to you here. I am not predisposed to the DoF role and I do think it'll be a disaster.

Howver, leaving that aside, you cant claim a strategy to be "coherent" prior to it being tested. Today we begin to test it.

That's not being contradictory, btw.

No, not now. We are not in that place anymore thanks to the last 12 months fiasco.

I just make the point that the new path we must take makes matters less complicated: you get shut for cheap (because that's all we can do with the muck Koeman bought) and you buy or loan in a reasonably cheap (for this era) market.

Yet to be determined.

I get where you're coming from, but for me the mantel has been passed over to Marco now to make it work. Brands has done what has been asked of him, by said manager.

No mate.

The transfer window was negotiated in a cohesive manner. The manager and DOF working together to identify and acquire targets, then being backed by the owner. They have all acted as a united team, hence they have acted cohesively. What im excited about is to see the result of those cohesive actions.

I want disagreeing with your sentiment, I just felt that you perhaps picked up.on the wrong thing. Truth is, we won't k ow results for a while yet, but se do know how they went about the transfer window.

We got about as good as could be expected. Any new player is a gamble and it's difficult to predict if they will thrive at Everton. That's a success. I

f he consistently gets in turkeys for too much money then it's definitely bad.

We shall see what we shall see.

He didn't ask him to backload all the signings so he has to start practically from scratch first day of the season.
