I'm not against the signing. I just ask where the confience lies in this being financially sound. He could easily flop then we're paying a player £6M to stink the place out and he'd want a club to come in and match his wages...which limits him to a handful of elite euro clubs. If he flops here no PL club would pay for him at a big price and pay his wages.

Reasoning that paying any really good player a lot of money because they "might" flop basically means dont pay anyone anything, just in case. Just thought that we were entering a period where we'd go for low key solid signings and get our breath back after the waste of the Koeman years...wasn't that supposed to be the way we'd go under Brands - and everyone signed up to that idea?

If he's not good then we can sell him and turn a profit, if we can loan Williams to Stoke, Mirallas to Fiorentina and sell Klaasen to Bremen it should be easy to sell a single name Brazilian to some other league for a decent amount
