Our Central defense right now is a joke... They get torn apart and I don't understand why Holgate hasn't played... For God sakes he has zlatan in his pocket a couple years ago. He can develop into something really good
I agree Holgate will be good, but we do need someone to partner him (be it Keane maybe) AND another CB. In effect this new CB coming in will replace Williams in the short term and ultimately Jags in the long/med term.

Off to United. Imagine that's why we're getting Rojo.

looking that way, im surprised they want him considering he must be their 3rd choice after alderweireld then maguire, 35m for a player that will end up on the bench.

then again we pay 30 for klassen who ended up not even making it on the bench

So we have bid £26mill but Barca want £35mill and we wont pay it.

Mina isnt keen on us as he wants CL, has Lyon intersst but waiting on Utd.

Utd not overly keen but want another CB, however some people inside the club dobt think he is better than what they have.

Sounds great. I still dont get the whole Barca to Man U bench bit.

the zonal marking at set pieces worries me ... Crouch may be a good buy for centre back the way things are going on this tactic !! :-)

He was on the bench at Barcelona as well and even if he remained, he would not be a started but depth.

Thats my point. Why swap one bench for another? Plus there will be more pressure at Utd than Barca only because of the Mourinho issues and all the negativity going on there at the minute. The first sign of trouble or bad mistakes the Mina wont be seen again for months.

SKY have been floating stories all summer about clubs chasing certain players which have proven to be unfounded. We have seen that ourselves with the Pickford/Chelsea situation. Of course clubs are interested in good players but will know very well if they have any chance of signing them.
I would expect that Utd had asked about Maguire and moved on to other targets long before SKY even broke the news that Maguire was their main target, similar with Chelsea and Pickford.
I think it is clear Utd want Alderweireld and I think Spurs will sell as it will cost them too much if they don't but it is a deal that could drag on. Spurs may well be linked with Minna next.
We were supposed to be after Malcom but almost immediately signed Richarlison, now we are linked to N'Diaye but the Echo says we are not interested.. at this time.

I don't think we should take any of these initial stories too seriously until we see something more definite happening.

In the case of Barcelona, he would be further down the depth chart since they just spent 36 million for Lenglet and clearly been informed by Valverde et al that he is surplus to needs atm - in all likelihood sold or loaned out.

As I have previously pointed out, he barely played after only being at the club for a less than half a season - it was all too soon to make longterm conclusions but Valverde apparently lacks trust in the player

MD claim today is a decisive moment in negotiations for the player's future
