Are you worried?

Are you concerned heading into the new season?

I'm not worried, I'm more annoyed, but if we're starting next season with the current crop of centre backs plus schneiderlin then I'll be praying for Jan because it'll be another few months of switching the TV off early because we're getting bummed by rubbish.

Currently we have a good keeper, the worst defence in the league, the worst midfield in the league and a decent front line.

It should be enough to stay up but we’re really a few injuries to Richarlison Walcott or Pickford away from utter meltdown.

The people saying 'write this season off' are deluded - if we play Silva's style with the current players we will be in a relegation battle make no mistake - teams that dont defend and cant score go down in this league and for all Alladyce's faults he got us up to 8th by being boring but having 10 behind the ball (something Silva wont do)

Silva is being let down by the board and Brands- if we are in a relegation battle he will be sacked- they'll be no "we need to give 2-3 seasons to sort out the Koeman / Walsh mess" as Moshiri won't gamble his investment on PL status.

This is why I was a "bed wetter" one month in to the transfer window with no signings because I know fully well how poor this current squad is and that 5-6 quality signings were required to even have us talking of finishing 7th this season. Too many of us (and our board) are deluded in thinking these current jokers and over the hill players will guarantee us 7/8th.
We should just go out to the player tree and pick a few good ones that nobody else is interested in.After all we have unlimited money and no dead wood to get rid of.

I hope we can look back at preseason as the rocket up the recruitment drive we needed and not a foreshadowing of a real bottom of the table scrap. Personally I think we will be midtable.

Yes worried. We haven’t got a game changer or anyone who can score from nothing. Neither do we have midfielders who can pass a ball or find space.
We need a commanding disciplined centre half, a cool headed centre mid who can get stuck in and start an attack, a number 10 who can run at defences, and obviously a LB. which players would fill these vacancies...no idea but I hope they’re out there and our scouts can find them.
Possibly Drinkwater, Townsend could come in, but would they massively improve us, probably not

Worried .... We've got largely the same squad. Still too much dross / 1 signing in... 2 weeks to go and a lot to change. Easier fixture list to start season this year....we may well be regretting the points lost in the time it takes to get rolling. I had higher expectations for Silva / Brands start up. Happy to be proven wrong in the next two weeks but we don't look good right now. ( Cue the Premier League points deduction from Watford charge next week ! )

Obviously Rome wasn't built in a day and it was always going to take time but other than the first 30 minutes against Porto there doesn't seem to be much improvement from last season, if anything we actually look worse defensively which takes some doing. I know people can say 'it's only preseason' but we all said that last season and the level of performance has got to be a concern again.
Painfully obvious that we still need 4 or 5 new signings that could slot into the first team but with the end of the window bearing down is there time to get them in, we'll most likely only get 2 or 3 in, so it looks like we'll have to rely on the same underperforming cowards that have let us down last season to see us through til January

One thing though is I hope Silva gets time and some patience, by now it's obvious to everybody it's the players who are letting this club down
I voted "no" but that's probably my heart ruling my head that there's still sufficient time to bring in the players we need. If we are able to do that and have players that are able to play the way Silva wants, I'm actually quietly confident that we can have a decent season, cementing 7th place and closing the gap on the teams above.

My big concern is that we are unable to attract the quality of player we need. With this current crop of defenders playing high line we'll have to score 2/3 goals a game to get a result. I'm not at the bedwetting stage yet though.

Immune from it all once again. After the Koeman debacle and all surrounding it is a bit soul destroying to see us appearing to just be treading water.
We live in hope though.

A week is a long time in football. We could have 4 or 5 out the door and a new midfielder and centre half if in by the then.

Think we’d all be less worried then.
