Confirmed Signing Yerry Mina

Isn't that the problem we have now though? No egos, just a team of wet lettuces who are affraid to lead.
Really good point. This is one of my real bugbears with some fans - they moan and moan about players not having a winning mentality and being too nice, and then moan and moan when somebody isn't convinced that playing for Everton will be the best thing that's ever happened in their life or seems to actually back their ability and believe they can play for the best teams. They can't win half the time.

The same way we’re a bit put off by the fact he’s waiting for a bigger club, does it not work the same way for a player when the club he wants to go to see him as a backup option?

If I’m Mina and I see that I’m backup incase Harry bloody Maguire falls through I’d be offended.

It’s diffferent game now mate, they’re all just dead professional and it’s jist a job.

Mina’s probably told us he’s hanging on for Man U who’ve told him he’s there back up option and if he doesn’t go there he’ll come here. We’ll be prepared to wait but we’ll have spoken with our back up option just in case.

The most important thing is, come next weekend the Everton squad has the players in it that Silva and Brands want.

Why cut off your nose to spite your face and move on to Alfie Mawson, an inferior player, if Mina is who you want and you think you can still land him.

As far as I’m aware he’s not signed for anyone else so until he does I still have hope.
Or would you rather we give up and go for an inferior player who will not have the skill or ambition to play for an elite team.

We're hardly going to be his #1 choice, but at least we're aiming for the right calibre of player. Still a chance we pull this one off, though I'm only giving it a 25% chance at present.

This is what I don't get. If I was a young talented player I would rather go to a team where I'm going to start and challenge for European competition than sit on the bench of a higher up team... Never makes sense to me

He could get that chance at Lyon and various Spanish and Italian teams though, not just us.

Also there is the way in which we signed players for tens of millions last season and then failed to play them that might be counting against us.

Noticed Jose's presser last night he mentioned 1 particular position that he had gave the club 5 names months ago.
Even if Mina is 1 of the 5 he wont be anywhere near the top of the list.
Enquiries will have been made for all 5 but Alderweireld & Maguire will be miles ahead of him ,theres probably another 2 from the continent who will be top of their game 1st choice for their clubs.
Mina just does not fit as a signing Jose would make , its always the finished article or close to it.Not a 4th / 5th choice from any club in the world.
Cant blame the lad for living in hope tho.

According to the venerable oracle that is 101greatgoals.com, the list is Alderweirald, Maguire, plus:
Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng
Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane
Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly
AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli
Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar
Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez
Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu

No sign of our Yerri - if you care to believe this...

This is all very true. However, if he has seen any of our center back play then he has to know he is a guaranteed starter, plus he will have someone he knows in Digne

From the players perspective a move from Barca to Everton is hardly a step forward in his career. Sometimes young players make moves that are not sensible for them , he needs to go to a club where he will play every week and establish himself as a top player and see where that gets him.
I am sure he has other options but make no mistake the lure of the Premiership would be far greater than that of the French League which was won by PSG in season 2018/2019... and it hasn't started yet.

Playing for a CL club is a bit over rated if you are playing for one of the cannon fodder teams in the competition.
