He’s a LB as far as I’m aware, the River Plate lad.

I think they are signing him as a left midfielder though, he seems to have played a lot in midfield. Although having players who can cover other roles would be about right too! But they where after another left winger a couple weeks ago too (cant remember who now), its a position they are clearly targetting. I don't think they are going for Lookman cos they know he would cost about 3 times as much as they will be spending on that position - i.e. not necessarily a first choice.

Cant wait for him to come back, have a couple of quiet opening games the nlisten to you lot saying "he's not cut out for this league".

Remember you all couldnt wait for Bolasie to come back........................funny how not playing for a while makes you a better player in most fans eyes at Everton

Klaassen, Mori, Bolasie, Vlasic, Tosun all world beaters when not in the team
He wasn't "Not playing" though he was out of our team and scoring and assisting goals in a very good league. That's why the hype has come about

Just like Lookman.

I really dont get the hype. One goal against the most leaky city team Ive ever seen. Even Tom Davis scored on them that day. I hope he’ll come good, but there is no chance he’s going to satisfy the hype some on here has laid on him, nothing he showed while playing for us pointed to him becoming a great footballer. Too small, too weak, makes bad choises in front of goal and lost the ball a lot. His finishing was terrible too, worse than DCL. Every shot was directly at the keeper, even the one he scored against city.
I hope he’s ready for the first team next season, but I doubt it.

He's shown enough in terms of assists and goals in Germany though in a team playing in Europe to get another go, more than some you mentioned. I agree we do over rate our players when they aren't playing and he shouldn't be starting every game, but bled into the team with some starts and sub appearances. But its farcical to judge this kid yet, he needs a run and to develop so that we can see his real potential. He's 21, having a manager that shows faith in him and can actually coach players and a team will help him. I hope we get to see it with us because he's one of the few players we have that excites me.

I left Davies and DCL out of my ideal team to play with Lookman etc etc. I have rectified this and have now filled all positions with players who all qualify as "there is a player in there somewhere". The line up is - Robles, Holgate, Williams, Mori, Cuco, Klassen Besic, Davies, Lookman, DCL, Bolassie. Poor Ramirez only makes the bench.

If Marco can keep that lot clear of relegation he is well worth having.

Good thing RBL wasn’t of the same opinion, otherwise those 5 goals and 3 assists he put up in 7 matches wouldn’t have happened. But yeah, his finishing is terrible.

If Lookman is terrible, the entire U20 English side is terrible, because he was their best player.

11 matches not 7.... It's a decent record as it is without having to make it look better....

Hype was there beforehand, in the build up to that.
That wasent really the point i was trying to put across though, Lookman is the exception to the hype machine rule in my opinion

I think the kid probably did precisely the right thing getting some game time in a high quality league. Particularly escaping Allardyce. With the right manager in place I'm hopeful he'll be an asset next season

Edit: just realised Silva has been announced. Hopefully Silva gets the best out of him.

With Silva being the new manager, I would be shocked if Lookman is not a guaranteed starter next season. Whether thats on the wing or more central as RBL played him I think is the real question.

In a 3-4-3, which Silva uses quite a bit, he'd probably be perfect on the left side of the three up top.

But we'll see.

4-2-3-1 is his most used formation, followed by 4-3-3, he very rarely has played 3 at the back.

Really think he will buy Willy C and go 4-1-4-1 tho personally.

definitely remember him playing three at the back at Hull a few times...

but aye, his 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 definitely is the go-to

I'd be happy with big Willy C
