Champions League Final

...old fellas like me will clearly remember Gerry Byrne being a hero for the Reds in the 1965 FA Cup Final. He played almost the whole match with a broken collar bone as the Reds beat Leeds 1-0.

Fast forward 53 years and Mo Salah goes off the field in a European Cup Final with a sprained shoulder. I know times change but what a contrast (@Joey66).
Was the first thing I thought of when it happened. As for Ramos, I would take him or his like in a heartbeat. Any team needs snides and clever players who will push every limit. Souness springs to mind.

..thought of Souness, myself. More specifically our Cup final replay at Maine Road when he single handily won that trophy for them despite us being superior. We didn’t get a petition up for his arrogance and aggression, I lauded that as one of the best individual performances i’ve ever seen.

Alan Hansen single handedly kept us in the game at Wembley.

The bloke was a quality player and a bully , but I mean that as a compliment. Souness bullied players and if you let him then that’s on you .

yes he even hacked them down in training when he was a manager and then wondered why they didnt want to play for him anymore. borderline thug.

I’m know little of his managerial career other than my amusement when it went wrong across the park . I am capable of recognising when someone of ability even when I dislike them play . I can’t stand Gerrard or Suarez but you’d have to be stupid or blind to not have recognised their ability on the park .

oh yeah he was a very good player as well as being a thug.
