Marco Silva

The only concern I have about Silva is that he likes to play a high pressing game. Lookman and Vlasic are going to have to learn quickly if they want to play as defensively they will be required to work hard and close down high up the pitch - something which has been missing in blue shirt in the past. That may of cause be down to the managers we have had.

Still young enough to learn

"Crystal Palace would be due a payment in the region of £2m if Sam Allardyce were to take over at Goodison Park, The Independent understands.

The former England manager stunned the Selhurst Park club by resigning from his post in May, but part of his severance agreement saw Palace insert a clause stating they would be due compensation were he to step into any club job before a certain date - believed to be next July - and that sum is understood to reduce after January 1st. We had to pay.
Sorry mate, I can see I worded that badly.

When I said No, I didn't mean we didn't have to pay Palace. I meant, No, this is different to the silva scenario. Allardyce walked away from his contract. hence we have to pay compensation. Silva didn't walk away, he was dismissed. Therefore no compensation payable.

The bigging his time up before the Everton approach is bizzare as well:
Lost to Bristol city in the 2nd round.
Then drew at Brighton
Lost 6-0 at Man City
Drew at West Brom
Lost 4-2 against Chelsea
Lost against stoke
Lost against Everton when at free fall.

Mixed in those results he had 4 wins (against arsenal, Southampton, Bournemouth, Swansea) so basically 1 great win and 3 against teams that where/was almost relegated.

He then had two wins (against West Ham and Newcastle - both who at the time where shocking) and then went on the awful run that got him sacked.

It ain't a record to write home about, certainly not to the point he gets an improved club and wage.

At the start of the season everyone is getting their feet ready. At one point Brighton was up their, along with Southampton and Huddersfield, let's go get their managers as well eh for the 5 minutes of "good form"

The club couldnt pick a manager that pleases everybody, when will people realise this, they wont pick the manager you want, they wont pick the manager I want.

Its a thankless task.

All they can do is appoint somebody and pray.

If it doesnt work out, so what, we just sack em and start again, I mean it hasnt worked for the last 23 years, so does it even matter at this point.
Probably the most sensible post made in his thread today.

Leathered Allardyce didn't he.

Allardyce, 63, said Silva's record had no comparison with his as "he got Hull City relegated last season".

"Go and see what he [Allardyce] was doing when he was 40 years old, or see what he was doing in his first seven seasons as a coach" said Silva.

"Then look at what I am doing at the same age - or you can wait until I am 63 years old, and then we can compare what I have done."

"I read what he said, but when he made this comparison it does not make sense," added Silva.

"It's like me comparing the five goals [Watford forward] Richarlison has scored in the Premier League with [Stoke striker] Peter Crouch.

"Crouch is nearly 37, Richarlison is 20 - Crouch has played so many games and Richarlison far less."

Can't wait, me.

I will be happy with Silva. Yes Emery(no English apparently) is available but would he come to us? Would we have to wait a month before he would give us an answer and using us while hoping for a Chelsea to come in? Could lose the likes of Silva in that time. I think Moshiri is right to target a realistic Manager we can get in now than chase the likes of Emery for a month. Also Silva is a reported workaholic which is the opposite of Koeman. His track record on the continent is good. Hull he nearly pulled off a miracle and whatever happened at Watford is a mystery. I am sure Moshiri has someone with a football background doing pre check on all potential targets. If this is the guy he has chosen let’s all get behind him. I’m sure there will be loads of ups and downs. PS didn’t Benitez relegate Newcastle.....

Hahaha no probs!!

The only way I can think that there'll be something going on is if they haven't been paying him and then It could get messy, don't know how though!
