When Fonesca wins the Champions League with Shakhtar and not dumped out by the side humiliated by our nearest and dearest I'll be delighted to appoint him.

I just think everyone wetting themselves over him are not at all reserving any possibility that it could all go tits up again next season and I cant deal with another season like this.

We have to appoint a proven manager imo.
I'd love to see a proven manager like Emmery. Vastly more attractive than taking someone like Fonseca who's won trophies in a weak league with a team who'd won the title 5 times in the last 7 years before his arrival. Emmery's achievements in a top league are far more impressive but that's why Champ's league teams will want him.
The proven managers won't come to us so we have to hope we identify the next one on the up like a Fonseca or Sliva or try and attract proven ones who are now over the hill for the top clubs like Wenger (unlikely) or LVG. That's the market we shop in. I can't think of a proven manager who isn't retirement age who we could realistically attract.
By the way we had a chance 2 years ago to launch the Moshiri project with a Champions league winning ex Real Madrid manager who wasn't yet ready for his pipe and slippers. The one and only realistic chance I've seen in my lifetime to get a top proven manager. Past alliances meant that chance wasn't seized so here we are.

Seen the presser now & get what you've been saying.....first time the weasel has buckled in my opinion. The Big Sam ego act, stripped bare. Absolutely beautiful.

'I've got a contract, I've got a twelve month contract'.

'Done the Plans for next year?'

' they're done, they're done'

The anxiety and desperate need to assert control was laid bare for the first time. It was a thing of beauty. I've even replayed it, long gone is that chuckle of contempt when asked about his position. The ridicule he delivered & played back when asked about what did the fans think. I'd love to take no satisfaction in what is about to happen, but I'm going to saviour it. What goes round and all that.....you've done the bare minimum Mr Fat Samadaurus, take Little Fat Samadaurus with you, remove your entourage from our building. You sir, are gone.

Going to be hilarious if/when we sack Fat Sam and the media will portray him as a poor victim, completely forgetting that the man’s moral compass points South. He’s lower than a snake’s belly.

"I've done all I can": Sam Allardyce accepts he faces Everton sack as Wayne Rooney transfer saga turns farcical

Manager unpopular with fans despite steering the Blues clear of relegation to meet owner Farhad Moshiri next week, while MLS-linked star he swore was fit left the training ground minutes later and will not play in Sunday's season final

Sam Allardyce has admitted for the first time that he fears for his Everton future.

The Blues' boss meets owner Farhad Moshiri next week for talks about his position, with fans clamouring for his departure. Everton have already made enquiries about the availability of ex-Hull and Watford boss Marco Silva and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Paulo Fonseca.

Allardyce’s position will have direct implications for Wayne Rooney’s future at the club. On a day of farce, the former England skipper was left out for Everton’s final game of the season at West Ham on Sunday because of a knee injury... soon after being declared fully fit by Allardyce.

With Rooney given permission to speak to Major League Soccer's DC United by Moshiri, Allardyce confirmed on Friday morning that he would speak to the player at the training ground “to see where the situation lies”.

The manager also insisted: “He’s fit and in training, yes. You’ll find out if he is playing on Sunday,” he said. But just an hour later, Rooney was heading out of the Finch Farm complex following his scheduled meeting, just as the other players began training.

A hastily-prepared statement suggested the forward had a ‘very slight knee injury’ and so would not be risked at the London Stadium — even though his next game in anger, if he stays, won't be until August. It is the latest embarrassment in what is becoming an increasingly laughable situation at a club which seems to lack leadership since Moshiri took control from chairman Bill Kenwright.

Allardyce admitted that when he meets Moshiri: “We’ve got things to sort out, yes. At end of day, we are where we are. “I can’t speculate or predict what Farhad is thinking or isn’t thinking, I’ll only find out when I see him. I’ve done all I can do. That’s what I’ll say to him. I can’t do any more than that. “There will be some meeting somewhere along the line next week.

“It depends what part of the world he’s in — he’s a busy man, runs billions-and-billions of pounds companies. So I’ll drop into his schedule, and meet him where I can, if that’s what he wishes.” Moshiri is under increasing pressure to bring in a new manager because of a threat of a fans’ boycott. An estimated 35,000 people walked out of Goodison last weekend before a planned players’ lap of appreciation after the final home game of the campaign.

If protests like that persist into next season, it would rock the club’s precarious finances. Silva was Everton’s original target before appointing Allardyce, and he is available. Senior players in the dressing room are convinced the club will make a change and believe that Silva is now more likely than Fonseca.

If either was appointed, then Rooney would wait to see if he figured in their plans, before deciding on his proposed move to DC United.

"Senior players in the dressing room are convinced the club will make a change and believe that Silva is now more likely than Fonseca."

I wonder who they could be? :coffee:

Is Silva likely to take us down or up? The jury is well out on that one. Moshiri must be a very worried man contemplating the real risk of recruiting a 3rd failure in succession. Wenger is no failure and maybe he would be certain to improve the way we play and get us up to 6th but no higher.
