2017/18 Nikola Vlasic

i hate our club so much, run by a bunch of idiots. As soon as siggurdsson got injured klassen was the obvious replacement choice, he still is. He's the only attacking midfielder we have fit left in our squad! Yet aLARDyce persists with square pegs. We had bloody defensive midfielders playing there today.

And the same to vlasic, we have ramirez, mirallas, lookman and onyekuru all wingers out on loan and sold lennon. We've got too many, yet look at our starting 18, we only have two every game and yet we persist with two strikers on the bench when we only ever play one and then we end up using only one of them off the bench out of position anyway.

Starts today in place of Bolasie who is rightfully dropped.

Good chance for the lad to stake a claim for a regular place in the squad!

Go for it, lad!
Shouldn't be hard to compete with Bolasie who has been nothing short of woeful; he (Yanick) has been saved by a goal or assist here or there.

Still, I unfortunately believe that if Vlasic doesn't have a blinder today, then we will see Bolasie back in again soon as Sam is too lazy for change.

Just look at the situation with Davy Klaassen who, while having a poor start to the season, can't get a chance regardless of other's deficiencies.

Don't think it's about being lazy.

Bolasie, as woeful as he's been for 95% of each game, he seems to find one quality assist. God knows how, he's been that bad recently.

Maybe Vlasic will be judged on how many assists he makes today. If he gets a quality ball in to our striker, I'd expect him to keep his place. If not, Sam will no doubt revert to someone that can do it.

Perhaps lazy was the wrong word, however I'd argue that Sam has shown that for one reason or another, he appears unwilling to make changes.

Regrettably, I can't see much of a performance today as we're adhering to a similar setup with similar (and obvious deficiencies) in how we play.
I just think Sam is type of manager that puts up with direness if he gets one goal out of it all that gets him the result. It's painful to watch as a fan!

I hope Vlasic takes his chance but I'm not holding out that much hope - I'm sure he'd have been in the team more if he was showing substantial quality in training.

Schneiderlein was kicked out of training for being a tit and not doing anything, yet, he has played a large majority of the matches this year. No idea what is going on but I don't think the old "he must not be doing it in training" is applicable these days.

But it comes down to Schneiderlin being better option than the next guy. Same with Bolasie. Hard as that is to accept - our options there are so limited.

At least Schneiderlin has come good. Pity Bolasie looks like he's never seen a football before!

???????

Mate, I know you have watched us. There is NO way Morgan was a better option that literally any other CM/DM we had as he was completely invisible at best, an utter liability mostly.

Agreed. Lookman wasn't given much of a chance under Sam even though he played reasonably well he did play - e.g. the derby come to mind.

Furthermore, from what I've seen of him and from what I've read, he's had mainly positive reviews from Germany, yet it wasn't an option.

Our lack of quality and depth is a massive issue as @Blue_in_london alludes to above, but I do feel that some of the selections are questionable.
