Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

It's like you know exactly what women want. Amazing lol

As for Ross, it would be quite amusing if he moved on from Chelsea and actually did alright for himself. de Bruyne, Salah, Lukaku, it's not like there isn't form for that. Equally, he could do what a lot of Evertonians seem to do when they leave and never be the same again (Jeffers, Rodwell, Pienaar et al).

Can't speak for you fellas, but personally if we are going to be a stepping stone club (and for a long time that's exactly what we've been), then I'd rather the players leave us and do well rather than tank. Surely that reflects better on us and the kind of player we're able to produce?

Nah. We won't have that.

We'll just argue over bang average players that still play for us.

I'm a Barkley fan, think he has bags of talent and depending on his luck with injuries etc. I still think he'll be a top player.

However, I want him to fail and would be delighted if he never set foot on a pitch again. Because he doesn't play for Everton, and I'm an Evertonian. I don't buy the "wish him well" logic at all, simply because there's no benefit to Everton in him doing better elsewhere. See Rooney as an example - left, did very well - and the benefit to Everton was... to be seen as that little club he played for before he started his career properly at United. Woo.

Nope, Barkley made his decision. I hope he falls flat on his arse career wise. He won't, but I hope he does.

Look at it through the eyes of Ademola Lookman. He joined us in the hope that Everton can progress his career. This could be through winning things with us, or it could be through moving on and winning things elsewhere. Ultimately though he'll want to win stuff.

So he'll be looking at us and thinking, "Can I win things with Everton?" There's no real evidence to support that sadly, even with Moshiri's money, so that's probably a secondary factor right now. Are we a stepping stone where he can get first team action, build his reputation and go on to win things elsewhere? We have plenty of evidence of players joining us young and then being sold on, but their track record is mixed isn't it? Lescott and Arteta won a bit, but not much. Fellaini has been in and out of the side. Stones will have winners medals but his place is in the side is far from certain, whilst Ross can't get anywhere near the Chelsea team. Lukaku could do very well but the jury remains out.

Spurs were once in a similar position to us, but when you think of how Carrick, Berbatov, Bale, Modric and Walker have done since leaving Spurs, it's a different ball game to us isn't it?

I don't want players leaving us of course, I want them to stay and do great things in our colours, but if they do move on to a 'bigger' club, it reflects terribly on us if they then flop.

I don't see it that way and honestly don't understand the logic of it. I don't want Everton to be a 'good stepping stone' for talent as that depicts you as a second tier club. I'd rather they flopped elsewhere and it was clear that Everton was too big for them in the first place.

That's my point though, that is our reality right now. Spurs were able to step up because they had top quality players to begin with who could hold their own in sides competing for titles. We've got players for whom Everton is their pinnacle, hence why we're nowhere near winning anything.

Then there's the whole Caveat Emptor thing

He’ll be out the door next season, another player who listened to his agent. In 5 years time he’ll be turning out for West Brom or Stoke.

Surely he didn't fail to get on AGAIN?

Should get some minutes in the remaining dead rubber Premier League games.
