If you’re in the right frame of mind, it can be a proper adventure. When I say “right frame of mind” though, I mean open to making new friends rather than being a bit maudlin and just wanting a drink for its own sake. As a Southern wool (@FC sexy xxx) that’s how I’ve always played it when coming up for matches. Had some particularly good times at the Europa games (remember them?!) and still keep in email contact with a few locals and foreigners.

When I was a kid I used to go up into a field on my own at 9/10 in the morning and get absolutely bevvied. Love to think what the passers by thought of it..

I’m jealous. I’d love to be in Berlin right now.

Have a wander around Kreuzberg/Friedrichshain. There’s loads going on at night. Suicide Circus, Chalet and Club De Visionaere were good clubs to go to get chatting to randoms when I was there, as they all have big outdoor areas where you can take a break. The whole Berlin scene is so laid back, friendly and inclusive. You’ll have a great night mate.

I remember coming out of Berlin Zoo a bit tipsy and wandering down towards the bombed out church. There was a stage set up on the plaza next to it and some bands playing with drinks tents set up. There seemed to be loads of people out on their own but all mingling, chatting and having a dance as and when the mood took. Talked to all sorts, all ages.

All sound - Ace city.

Have you ever done this? I find myself in Berlin on my own this night and it would seem a shame to stay in my hotel room. Not that convinced I’m capable of bar hopping on my own though
