I enjoy going to Burnley. Decent club, handy to get to, ground bang in the middle of a town and easy parking.
Remember going the Sunday, still hungover from the Lille trip, parked right next to the ground - parking restrictions were only in place for Saturdays and Tuesdays! Had a few pints in the cricket club and we had the full away end.
Scored early, pulled back to 1-1, Won at a canter 3 - 1. Should have been four but the centre fireworks taken wide, missed an almost open goal for his trick.
The culprit. It was Samuel Eto’o! I saw that day what stellar clubs around the world had seen paid many millions for! Unplayable - still can’t believe he played for us. Gave his maroon training top to a young lad before the game after warming up too! I’ll remember his performance that day for a long time.
Lukaku up top too - his bad touch gave them their equaliser- he gave way to Barkley later on. You know what, I took it for granted. Thought we were on the up!!! Bomb Alcarez, Osman, Pieenar coming at the end & we have a decent side in there. We had a dream, School of Science is back....you probably remember too!
Fast forward to next visit; only half the away end as tickets only £30 for away fans and home fans charged more for same seats. That ain’t right is it? Saw Yannick shove Rom off the ball to slot. Got beat 2 - 1. Goalkeeper error gave them a soft goal, missed loads of chances, should have won. Typical away performance at the time.
Tomorrow’s team compared to Martinez’s on the Sunday after Lille shows how far we’ve gone backwards. We ain’t improved, we ain’t exciting going forward, in fact we’re shocking.
I have little excitement about going, but despite our predicament, in my opinion we are, and always will be better than Burnley FC. No offence, but it’s Burnley v Everton! We should go there and run riot. I know we won’t, but as a fan, expectations rarely meet reality!

Bolasie and Davies to help drive us up the pitch. Gueye sticking to what he's good at and shielding the defence. Siggy to get close to Tosun and link the attack in the final third. Walcott to cause as much trouble as possible and provide a goal threat from the wings. Tosun just needs to give their centre backs a hard time and get in good positions to, god forbid, receive the ball with a chance to shoot. The defence just focus on not being a shambles.
Niasse on after 65 minutes to trouble their tired defenders with pace and chasing down anything and everything.

Could do with having a go at these. Watford were there for the taking and we failed. Burnley here are in a bad run of form so let's have a crack eh?
One player sure to get a good reception from all fans present will be Aaron Lennon, nice to see him getting football, shame to see him go but that's football.

I think if the players really go for it and take the game to Burnley we have a good chance of getting three points, however, if their attitude is just to avoid defeat we could have problems. I don’t think there will be many goals and I am hoping we can snatch a 1-0 win like we did at Newcastle. I’m not holding my breath though.
