Weirdly, I would say that since the influence of Bill Kenwright has diminished we have lost our focus and direction.
Under Bill we knew what we had, many didn't like it ... a mid table club arguably punching above it's weight.

However, at the moment we are all over the shop. Top tier spending, mid to lower table team and no idea about the manager going forward.

In its simplest form you can't have two captains of the same ship with differing destinations. Bill's sentimentality rubbed off on Moshiri and or we took too big a leap at once. We knew where we were and I think Moshiri's money was what Bill wanted to play with. Just my opinion but, Bill has always wanted the glory, for himself first, not the club. His sleight of hand throughout his tenure is what haunts us now, his way of doing things seems to be an albatross around our neck. There are only a few areas we've improved in the last couple of years andvtheirvtrails tend to lead to Moshiri or his appointees, off the pitch that is.
The greatest living Evertonian still holds too much antiquated sway.

Because he has never managed before that's why not.

Why should he waltz in here as his first mangerial job instead of proving himself in the lower leagues?

Because that isn't the only route to be deemed worthy of the job. There's loads of names mentioned in this thread who have had little or no senior experience who have succeeded. I just don't think it's worth writing people off.

Thing is mate, we have been not taking risks with managers for ever, Martinez and Koeman and then Allardyce, all 'prem proven', all failed because ultimately one never understood the club or connected in Koeman, one is a stain on football and again doesn't understand or care about the club, the first in Martinez, did get us, ultimately he was let down by his own stubbornness.

Playing it safe guarantees nothing, look at West Bromwich, we aren't in a position to attract the proven best managers, so by its nature anyone will be seen as a risk.

Fonseca, could argue he failed in his biggest job at Porto, now dominating in a weak league with shakhtar, and doing well in cl, but is able to fully focus on the CL games due to the weak league etc, can he handle it at a more high media profile club, can he adjust to the league and adjust to not having the better players in each game in 95% of games?

Silva, vibrant positive young manager, or failed manager, the jury is out on him, is he Martinez mark 2?

Dyche, a twenty years younger big fat Sam, Burnley bubble well and truly burst like so many sides before who had one great season till Xmas and went down within the next two...

Howe, but he's a blue.... Ignoring the only time he left Bournemouth he was an utter disaster and as a near 40yo man got homesick... Martinez mark 2 again, but maybe more proof with that than with Silva.

So in short, anyone's a gamble, but some have clear glass ceilings in what the will ever achieve due to being limited, Artetas is a huge gamble, but he also has huge potential as well, I like it to going with young players over experienced ones, short term it's risky but long term it's the only chance unless you're city of doing anything...
I think the Arteta shout is a decent one. Clearly an intelligent person and from all accounts an exceptional young coach. He'd need to be given time like any young manger. But let's not forget that the greatest manager we've ever had, a certain Howard Kendall, only had two seasons as a player/manager under his belt before we appointed him. The fact is that we've never had success with managers who haven't played for us.

Arteta as manager haha what about Ryan Giggs why isnt his name being thrown around? Because he didnt play for us thats why, we need someone who has more going for them then just wearing an Everton shirt once. Besides so he is doing well under Pep, yeah because thats like a real hard job coaching all those world class players, whats he going to do when he comes here and sees Klassen, "time off for family buisness" Schniderlin and Williams at Finch Farm?

No wonder we nearly ended up at Kirkby once, the ideas we come up with are so bizarre

If Sam were to let go I don't think David Unsworth would be asked back. It was tried.. didn't work.
I think Sam will see out the season unless results absolutely fall apart(home games) .
The only way I can see him being released is if his long term replacement becomes available... whoever that may be.

True...but Allardyce was in the stands & must of had a big influence on the result....
We were in trouble of that there is no doubt...
Fact is do Everton sack a manager for finishing in the top ten...?

Amazing how fats can have had such a 'big influence' on the 4-0 win, even before starting as manager - and yet wash his hands of virtually every performance since.

An influence of course how big or small is debatable.....

Your other comment is just nonsense...
