True...but Allardyce was in the stands & must of had a big influence on the result....
We were in trouble of that there is no doubt...
Fact is do Everton sack a manager for finishing in the top ten...?
I’m sure John Moores sacked a manger for finishing 4th, was a long time ago, but we need to get back to them times. And stop excepting mediocrity.

Can’t wait for the top ten dvd

What we need is someone who is confident in their ability and approach. Someone who is given ownership of the team as a project and not expected to deliver trophies immediately, but to deliver progress, on their terms.
There has been too much interference from non football staff at the club, main reason why the last three haven't survived, I include Unsworth in that, and hopefully the fat headed fraud next.
We have to accept a new manager's approach. Koeman scuppered himself from the start when he spoke about a project with a relatively short contract came across as using us as a stepping stone. Disrespectful. No way back.
The next manager must want to prove himself as a manager, not as a media icon, and for me Fonseca fits the bill.

I've defended him repeatedly from those who don't seem capable of having a balanced view of things and make out he's been awful from day one. But on this comment, it's more to do with how he gets it if he does.

Will it be through profiting from the rest of the teams in the league stuttering, where we continue to play negative football, get hammered in the Derby and against City, barely get any points away but manage to beat sides like Brighton and Southampton at Goodison?

Because even if he finishes top 10 in the above scenario, that isn't good enough for this club. When he first came in, whilst the football wasn't amazing, he was getting us results and he ground out our first away win since January against Newcastle, and made us tough to beat against sides like the RS and Chelsea.

Since then, he's undone all that with cautious negative tactics which have lead us to pathetic defeats away to lesser sides like Bournemouth and Watford, and humiliations against Arsenal and Spurs, which is what was happening effectively under Koeman and Unsworth. He had a chance to sort out the left back situation in January even if it was a short term solution but he's persisted with Martina which continues to imbalance our side. And he refuses to play his £27m signing up front when we have struggled for goals.

So for me, I will acknowledge the role he played in steering us to safety within the first month with sensible tactics, but will gladly see him removed after the West Ham game after the way he's managed us since.

For me, the only way i'd personally be happy to even consider him staying on is if we get 20 points from the final 30, at least put up a fight in the Derby where we actually try and score, and we take 10 points from 15 in our final 5 easy away fixtures. It won't happen so will happily see him go.

I applaud what you are posting and that is the way forward. One wee problem, the fans and it shows on here as well. Fixated on trophies, get in top 4 for CL and winning games. Can the fans be patient for 2 to 4 years because in my view such a programme would need that amount of time.

I've said this many times, but Loew really ticks every box

If you surveyed Everton supporters over what they wanted from a manager, the most popular responses you'd likely get would be
Must play nice football (His German team are superb)
Must have won things (What's bigger than the World Cup?)
Must have an interest in promoting youth (Basically helped rebuild the entire German footballing infrastructure and gave caps to lots of new players)
Must show willingness to stick around for the long term (Been German coach for a long time and overseen a far reaching project)
Must be able to command respect from players and attract new ones (Who wouldn't want to play for a World Cup winner?)

I mean, he's pretty much the perfect choice, and I honestly think he'd take it if offered. He strikes me as a man who likes to have a project

But no, he picked his bum once so sod all that

Is it not easier to look better picking the very best from a country than it is managing a club side?

We’re stuck with Martina at left-back and he has a whole nation with LB’s to pick from as an example.

He’s a national manager, think he’d suck at a club personally.

Besides, I don't want someone who has put his hand down his shorts and then sniffed it -- on live TV to boot -- to be in our dugout.

I don't agree with this whatsoever

National managers can absolutely convert to being successful club managers

Look no further than a previous Germany manager in Franz Beckenbauer

Won the World Cup in 1990 and then went on to win Ligue 1, The Bundesliga and the UEFA Cup

It can definitely be done, and I think he will do it, it just depends who he does it for

If we’re going down this route why not someone with arguably more impressive national team achievements like Herve Renard?

How are his achievements more impressive?

Germany were hardly top contenders when he came in as assistant before moving up to head coach, and he oversaw a project that took them to World Champions in 8 years. He even got them to the Euro 2008 Final ahead of schedule

Renard has yet to do anything at a World Cup. If he can take Morocco into the latter stages then fair enough, but we'll see if he does. Loew already has World Cup pedigree

Winning a World Cup with a nation such as Germany, no matter what state they were in at the time.

vs

AFCON with Zambia and Ivory Coast and first WC in 20 years for Morocco.
