Player Valuation: £25k
I'm new to the GOT forum, so I thought I'd take a few minutes to introduce myself.

I'm from Virginia, USA. I became interested in English football in 2013, when my family vacationed in the British Isles. I knew I would enjoy the sport more if I picked a team to support, and I knew what kind of club I'd like best:
  • a club with a long history (I am a history teacher myself)
  • a club that wasn't supported by lots and lots of bandwagon-jumping American fans
  • a club with a connection to the community in which it plays
  • a club that tends to give its young players a chance, and doesn't simply build by spending outrageously in the transfer market
Some of my students helped me narrow down the clubs of the Premier League, and Everton seemed to be the best match. The fact that Tim Howard was then the Everton goalkeeper didn't hurt; nor did the fact that Landon Donovan was (briefly) a Blue. I already knew those players from the limited attention I'd been paying to the USA national team.

The more I learned about Everton, the better I felt about my choice. So, while my connection to the club isn't one of long standing, I'm all in.

My family are becoming Everton fans, too...especially my kids (ages 13, 10, and just-turned-8).

I'm still trying to discover the identity of my all-time favorite Everton player. As I'm learning about the club's history, I'm looking for a player who always worked hard and gave all he had for the shirt. Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated!

Our family's favorite current player is Seamus Coleman, with Jordan Pickford a close second.

I'm looking forward to joining the conversations here very much.

CJ

Welcome to GOT, the middle page of the internet. Your thoughts on pineapple on your pizza?

And never mind Roydo. If you're a Redskins fan, especially a young one, that's as much pain as most Blues face. You are familiar with incompetency and bitter disappointment on a grand scale, and you're ready for the task ahead.

I grew up a Colts fan, and I watched the team's owner (whose name is not spoken in my parents' presence) pack up the team and take them to Indianapolis. I was 11 then, so I had the "disappointment" ticket punched for me, good and early.

The Baltimore Orioles (the baseball team I support) have given us more than a bit of grief lately, too.
