If he was hired as a touchline bouncer, then he has done his job brilliantly because I can't remember our bench getting into a fracas of any kind since he was appointed.
In all seriousness; I've got no idea what he does and if he does it well or not. If he works purely with the strikers then he can point to Lukaku who scored bag fulls of goals whilst working with Dunc although we'll never know if Dunc had any measurable contribution to Rom's success. If Unsworth leaves the club in the near future, then I think the logical course of action would be to give Dunc the u23 gig and we can see how he takes over a highly successful but very low pressure job.
When you think that our assistant manager is Sammy Lee, our first team coach is Craig Shakespeare then it does look like Dunc is a bit of a seat filler. He needs to be given a role with more responsibility.

Honestly not in the top 20 of Everton's problems right now - he is synonymous with an extended period of failure, though, so should be going for his own sake if he wants to be taken seriously as a coach. If he's happy just laying the cones out then I guess it doesn't matter much either way.
Not sure if it's been said but I did see him take some proactive action at Anfield. When our glorious leader was still going to bring Baningime on despite us having gone 2-1 done, Duncan physically grabbed him and evidently pointed out the utter lunacy of that idea, leading to Davies being brought on instead.

Part of Roberto's staff, Koeman's Staff, Unsworths Staff and now Allardyce's - all of which have been embarrassingly bad, with the exception, the others have been sacked/going to be, and that includes their staff, so why haven't we binned Ferguson? Jobs for the boys.
