He also wants to abolish the 10% buffer in order to punish drivers going even just 1 mph over the limit. I agree with this in school zones and hospital areas etc. But not on the motorway.

Less courses equals less outlay while more points/fine means more income.

The Tory government have no understanding of morals nor do they show any genuine interest in the safety of the proles or the environment. They are entirely absorbed solely in the pursuit of their, and their public school or freemason mates' wealth.

Any apparent interest in safety, health or environment is solely to justify a stealth tax.

The 10% buffer is not there as a kindly concession by the nanny state, it us there for legal reasons, as car speedometers can not be relied upon for accuracy.
Having said that, all modern cars are calibrated to over report speeds by around 10%

We are manipulated by those in power who are supposed to represent our interests, yet always run back and vote for more.

Speed limits are there for a reason, there are so many tossers on the roads who need to calm down there speeds !

Massive issue is it then encourages motorists to watch the speedometer rather than the road.

Round our way, GATOs are being replaced by average speed checks. Might be a ruse to catch more motorists speeding but definitely better than GATOs

Awkward this. Whilst I fully agree there is a need to be stricter on persistent villagers, there needs to be a common sense approach to this. On rare occasions it is necessary to exceed the limit to avoid a dangerous situation, how will this be accounted for if we are just presented with fine by computer.

Why should I have to argue a case in court for something due to those reviewing the evidence being only interested in the revenues?

Balancing act needs to put in place with this, I live on a new estate that is twisty, cars parked either side and some people (including parents who are dropping their kids off at the school) treat it like it is a rally stage. Any speeding (even 1 mph) on these type of roads deserves hefty punishment.

However If you are caught going 42 in a wide open 40 zone with little chance of kids and pedestrians stepping out then that should be taken into account and let slide. You do not want drivers looking down at their speed more than they are looking up and out for hazards.
