Jurys Inn and the Metropole hotel would be the cheapest accommodation options in the centre of town.Jurys Inn (the hotel is right next door to a homeless shelter) is in a very dodgy part of town though. The Metropole is in a better location, and there's a lot of nice pubs cafes and restaurants, in the general area around the hotel.Hotel prices in Cork are expensive though.

The Oliver Plunkett pub is a good spot for live music. That would be nearby the Market Lane.Which would be my favourite restaurant in town.As for stuff to do.Check out the English Market.Climb the Shandon Steeple and visit Fitzgeralds Park, and that area around the mardyke. The open top bus tour will cover most of the sights around town.I would also recommend a visit to Youghal if the weather is decent.Have fun mate and enjoy your visit to Irelands finest city.;)

Thanks for the suggestions I'll have a good look at them all and work out a plan, looking forward to it.

..and me. Been drunk plenty of times in Galway. I think I went 10 years on the run before I finally walked down as far as the bay. Just too many pubs to walk past. I always stay in the Imperial Hotel in Eyre Square.

Did you get to Connemara?

We did Athenry, Connemara and Cong. It's a very underrated country.
