What Did We Expect?

The worst part for me is the club sacked Koeman with plenty of time to repair our season and whilst our team is horribly inbalanced we still have players 10 teams below us would love to have. In every department from board to pitch we've made life difficult for ourselves this year.

I think there is some small truth in what you've said about Allardyce, but regarding this bit in bold...You are correct in saying that as we do have some good-very good players in our team, most of them would walk in to the sides below if circumstances were suited.

But the problem we have is that there is more to football than just spending large amount of money, and having good players on paper. Look at Belgium on the International stage. They have one of the most talented International squads out there that includes the likes of Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku and Courtois as well as several other very good Premier League top 6 standard players. Yet they've failed to deliver when it truly counts as of yet.

The imbalance in our team cannot be underestimated and the long term injuries we have had have caused us major issues too, and continue to do so. We have some great individual players but they don't fit well in to a system or the style that we need.

If we can sort out the left back situation, and Allardyce starts to realise that playing 2 defensive midfielders is hindering us, we have a chance to move forward. But there is also a lack of creativity in this team and means we have to rely on an ageing Rooney in central midfield to provide any, when he doesn't even regularly get played there, and is prone to inconsistency too. There is barely another player in our team who can regularly pick out a through ball and that's a problem.

Over egging the pudding in terms of how badly off we were when Allardyce took over. We were not his usual "patient", not by a long chalk. We had many paths to recovery.

Allardyce usually comes into clubs with a group of players incapable of finding feet and is able to justify the brand of football he insists on playing. Cynically he's arrived here and suggested that our players (who have proven they can play possession based football in the past) are the ones to blame for now being poor in possession when he knows it's his tactics that leads us to losing the ball.

Now the clash of culture between him and the players is the greatest threat to our season.

Wrong manager, wrong time, wrong club.

Hold on Dave, to me you are expressing once again your dislike of Allardyce with out really looking at facts. If we go back to the last season of RM (your fave manager) it was awful and they were playing the football you advocate. RK took over and selection tactics changed as did the players. So which players have proved they can play possession football - Schneids, Siggy, Klassen, Ramirez, Rooney, Keane, Martina, Gana, Lennon, Bolasie,Mirallas? Okay so we lost a couple of big names Lukaku, Stones and Barkley, but there was no way we were going to keep them under RM or RK. Think you are being unduly harsh on Allardyce, but typical as in other threads you are chasing "your" agenda!

you right. I'm no Moyes fan and i didn't want him back but this season has made me appreciate the job he did. He's lack of money meant that every pound we spent was used to it's maximum. Frustrating at times but it did mean we didn't buy 4 No10's when we didn't have a striker, or a LB. The money, when available went to the positions that were needed and the players either purchased or loaned nearly always worked out because they had too - we couldn't afford for them to not too. These last 2 transfer windows we've had no plan, no style, no forward thinking!
A Spurs supporting mate likened our transfer dealings to going to the supermarket with no idea what your going to cook for dinner.

Who is their manager?

Belgium failed in the 2014 WC and Euro 2016 managed by Marc Wilmots. With players available to him such as Courtois, Alderweireld, Kompany, Verthongen, Dembele, Hazard, de Bruyne, Mertens and Lukaku.

You can have loads of great players but they need to be able to work well in a system together.

Those players should not have got beaten by Wales.

And who looks after them now, what is his record?

ALL of those players you mention can play possession football if they're asked to.

Problem is until the stadium is given the go ahead via planning permission/funding found nothings going to change.

That will kick start the process of Moshiri buying out Kenwright and his gang and becoming the sole chef in the kitchen/Usmanov possibly coming in with the stadium given the green light.

Alladyce needs to go in the summer, he was never good enough and tbh it shown how weak our ownership is - instead of bowing to media pressure to appoint a "back to basics British manager" we should have chucked massive money - £8-10 millon Salary at a Tuchel/Fonesca knowing that we have enough quality to have gotten out the mire.

Im utterly fed up of this club at the moment, from ownership to manager to player none are doing their jobs correctly.

Our team cannot string two passes together and our players visibly have to concentrate on controlling the ball when it comes to them. We are a terrible, terrible side.

Let’s face it.

If you were a neutral fan, you would want to see this current Everton team relegated because without doubt it is the most boring team in the EPL.

Maybe not the worst team, but the most boring team.

Plus most fans of other clubs hate Sam and would love to see him relegated.

Er - our players are poor in possession, they have just proved it this season, with or without allardyce

It's really not that complicated. Our players are crap, it's as simple as that. There will need to be an overhaul of players in order to move away from relegation battles.

Looking back its now clear that Koeman screwed up big time. No midfield guile, no decent number 9, no linked-up play, no left back. A whole bunch of no.10's but still no pattern of play.

The team has no plan and its a worry that loads of players have not grasped the nettle whereas others are playing poorly. Sam is trying formations out but its not working out. I still prefer, on balance, Sam to a new face who will need time. After the failures of RM and RK why not give a bloke who needs the League inside out a chance to get it right?

The damage was done in the summer and that atom bomb of a transfer window. The neglect of 3 key positions, building a squad with absolutely no pace or creativity, instead spending £45m on a very average player just because he'd had some good stats and played in the Premier League. That was Koeman's idea of "spreading the goals around" - load up WhoScored and look who got loads of assists and goals last season and that play for teams we can buy from. No thought whatsoever put into how we were going to play, just expected to put them on the pitch and it would all just work. It can't be understated how poor a manager he was.
