Martina, Baines (sad, but time), Jags (too many off days), Williams (at season end).

Besic, Mirallas (make it permanent).

Beni, Davies, Klaasen, Sandro - loan out.

Rooney, bit part player at best. Lots of miles on his clock and cannot cut it for full 90 minutes. He is also in Siggy’s operating zone.

Only Pickford, Holgate and Oumar can hold heads up at the moment. Young guns including potential ‘loanees’ above need game time.

Bolasie stinking at the minute, but only just back from long-term injury.

Feel for Cenk - hope we get one or two other new folk in, starting with a LB.

The above is taking my mind off my dental appointment!

We seem to have a thread like this every season. We're the worst club in the league for keeping players on too long and letting them get comfortable, hence why every transfer window we always have abundance of deal players we want out.

It's one particular thing I gave Koeman credit for. For outright telling certain players he thought offered nothing to get lost. Martinez would never do it and Moyes only seemed to do it to players were free spirits as personalities instead of limited crafters.

Better off stating who I think we should keep as the squad is terrible.

Pickford
Robles - Back up

Holgate
Keane (although he defo needs to improve)
Coleman

Kenny - Back up

Gana
Gylfi

Rooney & McCarthy - Back up

Bolasie

Lookman & Vlasic - Back up

Tosun

DCL - Back up (He should be given some more time to develop properly, rather than being depended on)

Replace the rest, even Baines :(

GK - Stek, maybe Joel

DEF - Jags, Williams, Baines (this makes me sad), Martina, maybe Funes Mori

MID - Schneiderlin, Besic, Lennon, maybe McCarthy, maybe Klaassen

ATT - Niasse, maybe Sandro

I'd like to delay making a decision about some of those until the summer though since a couple of them may have a new lease of life under a different manager. I could make an argument for Baines staying as cover at left back, and I could make a case for a new manager maybe wanting to have a proper look at Sandro and Klaassen.

We need a reserve keeper, so makes sense to keep one of them, if not we'll just have to buy one anyway

Schneiderlin can do one based on attitude rather than ability. McCarthy might be decent, but our midfield of Gueye, Schneiderlin and McCarthy can't really pass a ball between them, we probably need one, two at most of any players like that - we need a younger Gareth Barry type player to sit alongside them if we are going to persevere with two deep-lying midfielders

Tempted to add Rooney to the list based on him possibly blocking Dowell's path when he returns, but he's here until summer 2019 whatever happens

Everyone is deadwood apart from Pickford, Holgate, Kenny, Coleman, Davies, Lookman, Sigurdsson (only because of the price tag) and Tosun. I couldn't care less about a single other player leaving.

Genuinely believe none of the players below would get into a top 6 side:

Stekelenberg - free
Robles - nominal fee
Browning - nominal fee
Martina - drop him off at the skip
Jagielka - donate him to Sheffield United
Williams - pack him back off to Wales
Galloway - nominal fee
Baines - 1 million
Garbutt - release
McCarthy - 15m
Schneiderlin - 15m
Besic - 5m
Bolasie - 10m
Lennon - 3m
Klaassen - 15m
Mirallas - 5m
Rooney - 1m
Niasse - 13m
Sandro - 5m
= about 88m

Look at the state of that list, diabolical. We're going to struggle to sell most of those too. It's an absolute nightmare. In an emergency I'd keep Browning and Galloway, but only because they are young and on low-ish wages. Robles as he's a decent backup.

The rest of them? Pure trash. Get them in the bin. No wonder we're crap.

Basically, keep Pickford, Coleman, Holgate, Kenny, Mori, Keane, Gueye, Beningime, Davies, Vlasic, Lookman, Sigurdsson, Dowell, DCL, Tosun, Onyekuru and build the squad around those for next season. We'll only be in three domestic competitions so would need to add a further 7/8 names to the squad between now and end of summer. Maybe even keep Baines as a backup, Bolasie for the bench and as mentioned above Browning and Galloway and Robles. That's 21 already without new signings. Get 5 GOOD players in to play centre back, left back, centre midfield, on the wing and up front.

Surely we can sell all the trash, use the 80-odd million plus add a little bit from the generous Mr Moshiri to fund five new players, right?

all of the squad is dead wood, anyone 24 or under deserves a bit longer.
the thing is when we manage to get rid of one bit we just replace it with another straight away.
