The Council have access to funding at much cheaper rates than what Everton can borrow at. The Council borrows the money, Everton make the repayments, and we pay the Council an extra amount for them providing the service. It’s a win win. The Council actually make money, Everton save money. Anderson has also said he would welcome a similar deal for LFC over any further stadium expansion at Anfield.

Are people on here just misinterpreting whats been said about the LCC aspect of the funding? Seems like it to me.

Indeed, and nor should we. Tax paying money to providing funding to a private organisation so it can make heaps of money while probably doubling the invest of a billionaire? What's to like?

That money should be spent on homes, which are in dire need right now.

I mean ffs I want this to happen, but it's a bad way of going about it.

And I'm sure there will be protests around the city because of it.

Councils aren’t allowed to borrow money to build homes believe it or not.

As much as i would love to disagree with this, I can't, won't happen, the Council can not be seen to be pumping this sort of money into a private business at times like this

There is no chance at all of it happening now. Elstone will be gone to this RFL job shortly and this will push off with him.

Oh, and what sort of man is Moshiri, by the way, if he'd like to risk the financial health of an ENTIRE CITY just to fill his own pockets?

A rat.

This. The council is not loaning us £300m from their coffers. They're securing the loan for us.

The owners at Liverpool paid for the extension with an interest free loan to the club.

We have gone from a SPV loan facility to i don't know what currently.

So if the stadium costs £450M. The council will give/loan us the £300M and we will pay them back about £1B ? Good deal for the council unless we go bust.

But surely if it was the SPV as outlined last year he would have said, "We are close to securing the funding for 2/3rds of the Stadium cost as outlined in the SPV that was released in 2017"... the fact he didn't leads to the conclusion from what has been said that the Council are funding it

Its telling that its gone from an SPV to the Council funding it... almost like private investors don't want to know and wont invest...
This surely cant be their new funding proposal? It beggars belief.

The thing looks like a stunt to get past the AGM to make it look like progress on finances are being made. No chance the LCC are getting on board with this. None whatsoever.

Where are all the private investors Moshiri/Usmaonv could bring on board?!

I think the way it's been worded has sent people in to mass hysteria about food banks etc unnecessarily. But I could be wrong.

So Goodison is getting flattened.
