We aren’t anywhere near the calibre or hold the prestige of Man U, ManCity or Barcelona, they buy pretty much who they want off clubs like us.

Barkley is just a misguided tit and isn’t good enough to hold down a place at a club like these so will IMO just be used when needed.

Our neighbours are looking like they are just about to lose Coutinho and Can, so if they can’t hold onto their best players what hope in hell do we have?

These 4 were also the core of a side that finished 11th twice. Under Martinez we acted as s true stepping stone club, ‘come here if you’re a good youngster and regardless of form I’ll play you every week until you’re good enough for your dream move’. It’s absolutely no surprise they wanted to move on. Most annoying part for me is that if Lukaku has been better we probably would have an FA cup to our name but he missed a pen, missed numerous chances in the semi v United then moaned about not winning trophies.

I blame the guff Martinez played alongside them more than those 4 tbh mate.

Can't really argue with the points about Lukaku in the semi though, still angers me to this day.

So doesn’t that make Steve Walsh’s job even more important?

Look who we have replaced them
Players with dear god.

He’s vile and I want him gone.

We were crap when they played though. Our best players when we finished 5th were McCarthy and Barry. Baines and Coleman probably next.

Lukaku. - Quality striker but not one destined for the very top. United are seeing his limitations.

Del. - Selfish, enfuriating, some moments of magic, some absolutely anonymous tripe. Failed most places he’s been.

Stones - a class defender, but only in the right team. Not a player you need when struggling.

Barkley. Overrated, slow making decisions, doesn’t drive forward with the ball (his great strength) nearly as often as he should. Won’t make the grade at Chelsea/Spurs.

Martinez signed Niasse before Walsh arrived.

Ashley Williams at the time looked like steady business, just had a good euros with Wales and seemed like he would give us stability.

Deulofeu is already being talked about being binned at Barca and isn’t even making the bench as most predicted, he’s hardly been missed here.

As far as I am concerned we have been unlucky with some of the signings not coming off yet such as Sandro, Keane very hit or miss and the long term injuries to Coleman and Bolasie didn’t help at all.

It’s been a mess this season and it does need addressing urgently and a lot of the personnel needs changing.

I am still hopeful, Barkley being a rat changes nothing in particular.

You mean like Arsenal couldnt keep Van Persie , Fabregas even Henry.
Man utd same with Christiano Ronaldo. Spurs with Bale.Liverpool with Suarez & Couthino (soon).
Its the football merry go-round & it happens at all clubs , lets not start gripeing it shouldnt happen to us .
Lukaku thought he was bigger than the club the day he arrived , Stones was always going to move onto bigger and better. Barkley ??? cant get me head round his stance its absolutely baffling. Deulufeu ....pah !
Its not that these players move on that is cause for concern , its the replacements that should have been brought in thats the problem.
Players move on from every club ,the major factors are money & a better chance of silverware something we cant offer atm against the "bigger" clubs.
But this is the crazy footie world we live in.

Deulofeu was and still is garbage. He's at Barca out of pity, not talent.

Lukaku is least talented elite-level striker out there and the world's most expensive tap-in machine.

Barkley requires a football brain transplant if he's ever going to amount to anything.

The only one worth feeling down about is John Stones, and he left us to be a starting centre half for probably the best team in Premier League history.

The others, yes, but Deulofeu left because Barca activated their buy back clause. Nothing we could have done.
