Sustained periods? Mate he'll most likely be gone in the summer or at the most get next season and his one and only fully contracted year. He won't have enough time for sustained periods. He'll either shock us all and deliver some success or he'll deliver nothing and be a failure like all the other managers we've had since Joe Royle.
