PL place target for the rest of the season

Where do we need to finish for the season now to be acceptable?

Just get as high up the table as we can.I still have my sights, firmly set on Burnley on 7th.They will drop points as the season goes on, and were due a good run.

Bit conservative for me mate.

A bare 10th I'd agree on, but only just. We're there right now and with some dodgy teams in front of us, and we have players back soon and players incoming.

We've played over a third of the season without any real strike force worthy of the description and we lie top half. Imagine we have an attack to turn to and the defence is strengthened?

A decent top half finish between 7th-9th would be acceptable...10th just scraping by as an effort.

Bottom half and Allardyce will have failed his own expectations.
As long as we stay in the league, for me, this season is a write off. There will be hardly ANY "good" strikers or defenders available in January. We need to shore up the defence(I don't think this spell is the norm now), the "attack" can get us through to the summer imo.

Still relatively early in the season though. And outside the top 6 it IS very ropey.

There's 4 places to get and retain there. We should easily be in the shake up for those. I think we will get 8th/9th too.

Our best bet for a decent striker would be a loan in January, Try and get a 2nd or 3rd choice from a top club

There's no guarantee that even 6th will get us Europe. OBVIOUSLY want to finish as high as possible but not at the expense of having absolute tosh on long term contracts after Sam gets jettisoned.

I wouldn't take any position that got us entered into that EL again in a hurry.

The season so far has shown me just how poor the other 13 teams in the league are.

We have been grim this year by our usual standards, yet we are 10th. I'm certain we will move up another level over the coming 8 weeks (because we are capable of doing that) and end up sitting in 7th come May. I'm also expecting a good cup run under Big Smal.

Could have lost both of the last two games and still not been in the relegation zone. 13 other clubs in this league are different shades of trash. Us and Leicester are probably vying for being the least trash of the 14 or the most trash of the top 7. I think Watford and Burnley will fall away. 7th is there for us if we want it.

7th. ASAP. Gotta be in position to snipe any of the top 6 if they fall away.

Still 8th or 9th is ok and probably more realistic. But we need to be getting used to being at the business end of the league sooner rather than later. Any less than this, and I would not think BFS would be overly surprised if he was replaced. De-couple him from the January transfer window if he demands fire fighting players - we need to be looking at getting players that can step us on. I would look at City when they started getting the likes of Bellamy and Lescott in - not the best, but will get you functioning at the top of the league and are good squad players when the top level players arrive - if that is actually the end game for Moshiri.
