Mate as I said earlier Burnley are infinitely bigger than Watford. I have a huge amount of respect for Burnley and Dyche and what they've done. They are a classy club to boot.

Whatever the respective merits, tradition and history of the 3 clubs, Everton and Burnley will ALWAYS be something that Watford can NEVER be....one of the 12 proud founder members of the Football League.:)

..I think folk should stop being condescending and disrespectful to Watford. They are a football club, it’s not their fault Everton is more than a football club. I’ve always had a soft spot for them since they turned up at Wembley in 1984 for the Charity singing before giving us a walkover.

There is no need to ping pong insulting posts. We’ve bid for their Manager and i’m quite certain their Manager wants to join the Toffees. That is the clear situation. What is not clear is whether Silva will make the move. No amount of chatter on fans forums will make that happen.

We just have to be patient but I wish they’d get a move on.

He'd defo give us an identity, which is important right now.

Could we do better in the summer or are we best allowing Watford to turn the screw now and hand them a big compo package?
Flip a coin? I don't know. If I take a step back and look at this from an Everton prospective, what's better, trying to get our target and being successful or being generous with our offer but not being held to ransom like we are mugs. Both outcomes have advantages and disadvantages.

Someone previously said on this thread (@bluestevon ?) that it's Watford who come across as looking contrary over this at the moment, and are harming their attractiveness to other managerial candidates who should now know they have a 2 year window of employment, can be binned off as required, but will have to compromise all flexibility in moving from the manager's side.

Interesting to read both sides...here’s my thinking:

There’s no doubt that Everton are a bigger club compared to Watford based on any metric that you use but, from the outside looking in, the role at Everton needs to be involved in a huge rebuild which will take time and has a chance of failing. The money may be there but attracting the right talent may be difficult. The role at Watford needs a few tweaks for him to appear successful. To me success at Watford is top 10 position, probably higher at Everton

Also the Pozzos would never put anybody on gardening leave. Their business strategy is to recruit early and sell for top dollar. Leads me to think that:

A) Pozzos don’t want Silva to go and Marco is negotiating his own terms to stay at Watford. Would explain the silence

B) Pozzos don’t want Silva to go but know that his head has turned so hard balling the compensation package

That’s it for me...the only choices. Truly think it will be a) but if it is b then good luck to you. You will have taken on a coach who plays very exciting football and has totally rekindled my love for the game that has been disintegrating since Sky’s involvement!

I feel the same, one of my brothers is a Watford supporter (the result of an odd situation to do with the 1984 final) and I've always had a soft spot for them.

Hate that when you type Everton in twitter, the majority of tweets that come up now are part of threads where Watford Fans and Everton fans are having the 'bigger club' argument.

Football is a business and there are things that Everton can offer that a lot of other clubs can't - that's the reality... doesn't mean that we should rub it in peoples faces... some of the stuff I've seen being said to Watford fans is essentially a carbon copy of the rhetoric Chelsea fans were coming out with during the Stones saga (and this is the same as countless other situations). The attitude of "of course he'd want to leave your 'little club' for a 'giant' like us" is one of the most infuriating things to be on the receiving end of as we should all be well aware - might be better for us to try to rise above this crap.

@Youorns84 it appears that I'm in the minority of posters on here that haven't insulted you yet.

Can I ask you an honest question ?

Who would you like as your next manager once Silva goes ?.

There's a few available that have coached in the Prem at the mo :

Koeman.
Pullis.
Bilic.
Allardyce.

Thanks in advance x
That list is the biggest insult he’s had!

It's a good point, and one that's probably concentrated minds in the Watford boardroom.
