It was clear to most fans in the week before those games that the Watford game was more important to the clubs future.

I understand what your saying but given how many matches still remain to be played I would prefer a manager who was confident enough to go for a win in both.
I have witnessed not even a scintilla of improvement since Unsworth took over, we remain a disjointed malfunctioning mess of a team. It would be exceptionally negligent of this board to fail to appoint a proper first team manager at this juncture. I am hopeful that by Wednesday we will have Silva in place and we can actually start to hope for something better then we are currently seeing.

Alex Ferguson/Mourinho/Guardiola couldn’t have done much better with this squad within a week.

Strange that you think everything is Unsworth’s fault despite the players form before he arrived.

For me the problem is that I can look at someone like Silva and see how well he did with Hull when he arrived. The same to a degree with Dyche . There is nothing to go on with Unsworth except what we are currently seeing. I needed to see the forming of a plan , a system of play at least beginning to evolve. I needed to feel he had some idea to begin to correct our deficiencies. I'm sorry but I'm just seeing no evidence of this whatsoever, in fact he looks more and more overwhelmed by it all.
In the end of course it will be the board who makes the decision, however much we may disagree on what that decision should be.

Fans don't have any patience. People rightly or wrongly wanted Koeman sacked at the end of August after the biggest overhaul of a squad in our club's history.

If Silva doesn't hit the ground running then people will want him gone by Christmas too. I don't envy him the task of getting a response from these players. I'm really not sure they're capable of it.

He started a must win game with no centre forward on the pitch. It was an insult to the 1000's of supporters who'd spent their hard earned cash going over there to watch.

Why would you fight to get in to European completion all season to toss it all away without putting up a fight? He then comes out with his usual tripe about expecting to win every game. I'm sorry but he didn't try to win that one.

Sorry mate but I totally disagree with you on this.

Because priorities change, and things that once seemed to matter are suddenly viewed with less importance.

Feel a bit sorry for him that if he stays for the next game 5 out of his 6 matches will have been away from home.

We seemed to have had started the season with a nightmare run predominately away from home, then a spell at home, and now Unsworth has had another horror run away from home. The problem is that Koeman messed up the home run because the team confidence was already shot.

..it’s a fair point, I reckon 4 wins ahead of the January window will just about keep our heads above window. I would hope a new manager might give us that bounce. At least in January he’ll be able to send for reinforcements.

Still not sorted the defence out to concede less than 2 goals which is a major issue for me. Said it Saturday night in more details but a 0-0 Saturday would have been a much better result than 2-2, it would show progress

I haven't mentioned Koeman. Koeman rightly got sacked for his performances this season.

You're telling us that Unsworth has improved the performances when he's quite clearly making the same mistakes as Koeman. There's been zero improvement in the quality of football/tactics/team selection. To me that does not justify giving somebody the job.

And for the record I'd rather have a manager with a bit of tactical nous who could set us up to win from the start and not have to make changes at half time every week, having conceded first or getting beat.

I still hold the belief as merely a football fan with no qualifications that we should be operating a deep defence. If the defence aren't going to be able to cope quickly then have them deeper making it harder for the other team to find space behind us. A clean sheet would make a massive amount of difference to confidence , right now every opposing manager is telling their players that there are goals to be scored against us.

Edit- but I do agree that our defence isn't going to be watertight any time soon.

So you are comparing unsworth to Alex Ferguson? Actually consider how that comes across here mate!

As for instant improvement, in 5 games yes I would expect some improvement in the defence. If we sacked koeman for doing such a bad job and unsworth is meant to be good enough to be caretaker for this long then I do exoect improvement.

At the end of the day unsworth defence is literally conceding 2 EVERY game. Not just one or two games but every game we play so like I said 2 weeks ago, we are in a position where we need to score 3 times in a game to win. As shown on Saturday, we don't score 3 times we don't win.

That is a relegation team. Simple as that, when a team has to score 3 times to win a game then that's a relegation team because it means every week we are going to concede at least twice. Thst I believe is just not good enough after 5 games in charge

Coming back 5 times in last 5 goals we've conceded certainly indicates a change in spirit and fight from what went on before. We've not had a full 7 days between games with full squad since he took over and we won't until after possibly the 6th January, depending when we play FA cup game. That gives, whoever is coaching little time to actually coach the team. I wouldn't expect more than a gradual improvement in how we play over this time, with ups and downs in how we play. People are vastly overestimating the impact that Unsworth should have had and taking little account of time he's actually had to work with the players. January is when we'll start to get a bit of a breather with 7 days between matches for a few weeks on the bounce.

There has been. If we'd conceded two against Watford or Palace with Koeman still as manager, the players would have just given up. At least under Unsy we haven't completely collapsed. There's at least a bit more effort being put in, even though the performances are still abysmal for the most part.

This just isn't true though, it's just a convenient lie to suit the argument for Unsworth. We conceded the first goal against Bournemouth but fought back to win, battled back to draw against Brighton and Split, rallied impressively against Lyon before ultimately failing, and recovered from one down against Limassol to lead before again failing. There's no difference, we were a missed pen and a scuffed Benteke effort away from both of the last 2 games ending in heroic failure aswell. This team isn't lacking in effort, and hasn't been all season. It's just lacking in quality.
