8. Flogging Stones
9. Letting Barkley go to Chelsea (until fate flipped the situation)

Let's not pretend he's stumped up loads of money. Barkley goes and it would have been minimal net spend.

Must admit- I am now very concerned. The nature of the performances, sheer number of goals we are conceding is alarming. Our goal difference is already horrendous compared to other clubs in or around the bottom 3. I remember Leeds, their spending - I hope that we do not suffer a similar fate. I know its early and there are plenty of games but this next run of PL matches leading up to the derby are crucial. We also have a favourable end of season run-in but we do not want to still be under pressure at that point.

He maybe trusted the system a little bit, cant fault him for blindly backing the manager, God we have waited since forever for an owner to do that, for all the money "we" have spent, I think its been to a sensible degree, we increased revenues across the board, coupled with the TV money, we are spunking shed loads up a wall, within our means, to a certain degree, of course the pot is NOT bottomless, but all is not lost, we have bought some good players, if somebody can come in and take a good look at things, make some good additions, bin some of the garbo rar off, we can maybe get back on track, next season.

Of course relegation is a doomsday scenario that drops the bomb.

Not really his fault though is it and I don't think Kenwright or Elstone can be fully blamed for this either. Just over 12 months ago he brought in the man who unearthed a load of diamonds that went on to win the league for a team that shouldn't have had a hope in hells chance of doing that. Good start. He then got in a manager who had lifted Southampton to a place that their supporters thought they were bigger than Everton. 2 seasons of solid results whilst having to rebuild the team each summer due to other clubs pinching their players. Sounds like just what we need.

We then had a relatively good season despite a slow start in market due to the late arrivals of the aforementioned, and when we raced out of the blocks to start this summer no one could possibly know the shh storm that was about to happen. We tried to get a striker in but we failed, yes everyone could have done better collectively to find someone else but we also started the season ok and I think we are still the only team to take points off city at home...(?) Perhaps that lulled us into thinking we could survive until Jan to get in the players we really wanted instead of plan C/D/E?

At the end of the day he got people in to do a job, he has to trust their judgement, the ingredients were top notch on paper, (for us anyhow) there just was an industrial accident when it came to baking the cake. If we had a few easier games after the city result who knows what could have been. But I don't think we can say the board failed, they looked to have done what was asked by the football people at the club, who knows what happened after we failed to land Giroud.
