Sunday atmosphere

Fully agree

How can you agree though? What are we supposed to be "angry" at from the start? Are we supposed to pretend Watford are an invading army or something?

The fans react to what the team they support show them on the pitch. The fans have absolutely no blame to bear for any performance whatsoever - it's up to the players to show some professional pride; the fans will react to that organically.

What next - a free pair of maracas to shake for 90 minutes on every seat to create "atmosphere"?

The point is to support EVERTON by being vocal for 90', not any individual in particular . This is the mentality that the balkans and other European fans or ultras rely on to have intimidating stadiums , in England that doesn't happen so much however !

I've supported Everton before the Premier League began, I remember well Mike Walker and Walter Smith, and I always supported effort even if it was from proper turgid players like Gemmill or Pembridge.

I'm not going to happy clap Ashley Williams after his latest solo devouring of a banquet for four, ambling around with his faux hardman routine alongside ten other millionaires who are sorry for themselves because the other team aren't letting them win.

Then you should remember the early 90s, bottom reaches of the league sub 20000 crowds yet we still turned up many a game coming with a sore throat from non stop singing. It wasn't "happy clapping" which is the biggest Sky bellend word of our fans today, it was support. 2-0 down v Wimbledon, still singing to support them. Dread to think what our crowd would be like today if that situation arose again.

Support is getting behind them and encouraging them because we want us to win

Feel sorry for your kid on sports day, I'm not happy clapping you until you win son. Boo, you run faster with that egg on your spoon I buy your effn jellies son. Booo

Because we were crap, but shown effort. There was no denying the lads were trying.

It's not about the fact we're losing; it's about the fact that everything about the performances aren't worth applauding and thus encouraging. They aren't similar scenarios.

If Everton fly out the blocks against Watford, the fans will support them. If we ultimately lose, the fans will applaud the effort regardless. If they come out of that dressing room and amble around like disinterested amateurs for 90 minutes, they will get a rollicking from the crowd and rightly so. Not a hard concept to grasp. If that's being a "Sky bellend" then I'm happily a "Sky bellend", as it is 100% the right approach to have.

I go to support and encourage competitiveness and talent. I don't go to happy clap mediocrity and cowardice.

So anybody who does go on Sunday and passionately gets behind the team because they want to try and encourage them to get out of this hole is a "happy clapper?"......that is a question not a statement.

The fans would react in exactly the same way to that situation now. Adversity often brings the best out of the Goodison crowd, and I can guarantee there would be massive support if - God forbid - we end up in that situation come May. It's different in November though - fans are just fed up rather than fired up, so the reaction you get is totally different.

Need to get behind the team. There’ll be plenty of time for inquests into these players abysmal attitudes, need the three points.

We'll win Sunday mate, some games you just know beforehand that you need to raise it to drag these gang of tossers over the line. I reckon Sunday will be one of those games where the fans will play a massive part, shout for everything, claim for free kicks and fouls that aren't there and rattle Watford

Players badly need us behind them on Sunday. If we are quiet and tense then Watford will grow into the game and not be intimidated.
But an angry, loud Goodison really can be like a 12th man.

We all know we are utter dross at the moment. But can we try and make some atmosphere from the get-go this week? Like an FA Cup atmosphere?

The importance of this. I remember going to a newcastle match the year they went down. It was around 10 matches from end of season. They were an embarressment to their club. You could hear a pin drop and they should have been fighting for their lives. If we are quite or negative sunday we are as bad. No point in moaning over spilt milk when too late. Goodison should be fighting for its life.

The atmosphere at Goodison has been embarrassingly bad for years.

And the abuse that the players receive can't do much for their morale. In a way I don't blame John Stones et al for leaving.

As fans we are one of the causes of the club's current malaise rather than a solution to.

This is crap. It doesn't help, but it's not one of the causes. The team have had plenty vocal encouragement and they are still rubbish- not completing 5 yard passes. The cause of the malaise is the poor recruitment policy from top to bottom.

Our fanbase isn't what it used to be, to say the least.

We don't sing or stop abusing our players when we're WINNING 2-0! Not that that scoreline happens much these days.

Must be very disheartening for those out on the pitch. It certainly won't make them play better. Quite the opposite.
