David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

I haven't heard his presser, but I'm encouraged by his quotes.

Koeman had morphed into Moyes, becoming increasingly negative and disinterested.

It's great to have some enthusiasm and positivity around the club.

Tough game tomorrow, but I fully expect the players to give David their best, and his attitude and commitment will brush off on everyone.

Best of luck to him, one of our own.

I will be glad if he gets the job on a permanent basis, as that will mean the team will have done well enough to merit that.

If it's also true that Unsworth was playing completely different tactics than Koeman, that's about the dumbest thing I've read in a long time. The tactics should be the same from the U-18s all the way up through the U-23s and the big club. So stupid.

He brought Unsworth in, worked close with the academy, wanted them to play the same as the 1st team. Wanted a pitch and a facilities built for them.

He did not work closely within the academy. He did more with them than Koeman or Moyes did, but it still really only amounted to a conversation with them about how he liked to play, passing stats etc, which the academy coaches showed him they already do, and that was about it.

That's more than the other two ever managed, but it doesn't constitute working "closely" with them

Jesus Christ, after watching that presser I hope he gets a 20 year deal.
We should be very cautious here. The team we play Sunday gave an unproven manager a full time gig off the back of a good temporary spell.

I worry that the club are backing themselves into a corner here. If we win 3 of the next 4 and Tuschel is available, how would we approach that scenario?

.... ok, but we're on about the U23s here buddy

What you're insinuating is that winning the PL2 is easy, if you throw money at the squad and play over-aged players. Galloway was on loan at WBA for the best part of the season. DCL and Lookman were in the first team squad. Unsworth has rebuilt the squad again this year and still they are competitive second in league currently.

Henen,Sambou and Foulds apart, the rest have graduate from the academy under18's

I was very impressed with the press conference

I am very happy he has Joe Royle alongside of him ... ebrell was a dire footy player imo so i guess my bias dosent allow me to get excited about him lol

He made it clear he plays a certain way and has a value and philosophies ie the anti-koeman and that it would not change...

Looking back to that Norwich game instantly i can remember playing very high tempo, aggresive in pressing and long direct balls being pinged from barry and baines

I didnt realise it was both Tom Davies and Koeran Dowell’s debut’s... 2 amazingly under rated players imo

Looking at the player choice and our team has changed dramatically since back then

I say 3 of those max from the starting XI and Kenny from the subs list will be in his team for chelsea

I think he will revert to the 4-2-3-1

Pickford

Kenny
Keane
Jagielka
Baines

Davies
Gueye

Mirrallas/Lookman
Siggurdsson
Vlasic

Rooney

What are we supposed to do while we look for another manager? Unsworth is the best interim option we have at the very least
I'm not saying we should appoint someone full time today. I'm saying it'd be harsh on Unsworth winning, for example 3 out of 4, then being sent back to u23's. But, from the way he talked today, he looked like he was under the impression that if he does that, then he gets the job full time. That for me is risky.
