So overall its a bad buy then. If he relied on other players to look good, then he's always gonna struggle and it was a bad buy.

Again, look at Tom Davies and compare the two.

It's common sense that you buy players to fit your style and system. Last season he scored 20 times and led his side to the Europa League final linking up with Traore, Dolberg and Younes all managed by the excellent Peter Bosz.

This season he looks like he hasn't got a clue what he's meant to be doing. We can question the quality of the lad all we want and rightfully have a go when he looks poor but at the same time you could put Coutinho in our side and he would look lost.

Can anyone point to a top class dutch player in the last 2-3 years.

Holland haven't qualified for the world cup because this era of Dutch players is the worst in my lifetime and probably before Rinus Michels hit the scene and changed Dutch football.

He's really struggling this guy after coming from a weak league.

Dirk Kyut scored 20+ goals last season at 36. There is your level in that league.

And leading a side as a captain does not make him their main player in that side. If Henderson wins anything with the RS, does he get the plaudits for "leading" his team? Or do the better players like Mane or Coutinho who win games?

As for Coutinho...he'd still show his quality at some point. That's what quality does, it shines through even in glimpses.

Tonight he looked beyond awful. He looked like a child out of his depth.

Additionally, in his previous games, he's shown nothing. No glimpse of anything based on his sole talent to a point that Koeman, the man who bought him, doesn't play him or subs him off because hes shown zero

Will be some turn around if he can make it. I am still prepared to give him mire time. But what disappointed me tonight he went into hiding when he gave away the ball at the start. Not a good sign.

Hard to argue about him not showing much. As for the leading the team argument I was more pointing to the fact that a lot of play went through him at Ajax in a system set up to get the most out of their attacking threat.

I'll be honest, I'm not even sure what our system is.

He's so rubbish, its hilarious. I can't work out who's the worst of the summer signings, it's beyond belief we've ended up with so much crap. Someone needs sacking for this utter incompetence.

But that's what happens when kids come through the system, especially in Holland. They're set up to play a set way through all the age groups to the seniors. So I've no doubt he fit a system well up there in that league as well in games in the Europa.

Step out of that, or play a more dominate side (like in the final), he's lost.

And sadly, that seems to be the case with the new generation of Dutch players.
