Ronald Koeman discussion

I'm curious as to how he's going to set up with Bolasie. He seemed to be using him in almost a Shane Long-type role last season, essentially doing Lukaku's running for him. I would sooner see Calvert-Lewin doing that.

I reckon I'd rate Bolasie if he were positioned as a wild card option in a midfield filled with slick ball players. Not sure how it's going to work with him thrown into the mix with the current mob, though.

He can go straight 4-4-2 with Bolasie and Coleman back

Probably the best idea tbh

Stick DCL up top with Rooney, Sigurdsson on the left with Bolasie on the right, middle two of Gana/Schneiderlin and Davies

I wouldn't be against trying that. Rooney would turn the midfield into a five most of the time anyway; and as much as it may vex me, he's going to play every week regardless.

I like this sexy team.....makes you realise how much we are missing a top drawer striker though....add a Lukaku sort up top and I think we are decent. You could even throw Barkley in there somewhere if he had a change of heart and stayed.

Hope he turns it around, then you can apologise.

I didn't want (and certainly didn't expect) at the outset, for him to be failing so spectacularly by this point. However, if he does miraculously turn it around then when I regain consciousness, I will apologize for doubting him. Right after he says sorry for wasting everyone's time and money with the mind-numbing bilge he's been serving up all season.

whos getting the goals mate?

DCL isn't a finisher and realistically isn't ready to play upfront on his own ( his goal record says this ) bolasie doesn't really have goals in his locker either

I know, which is why I said it made you realise how much we are missing a top drawer striker. In fact take DCL out and get Sandro in, I had actually forgotten about him for a moment!

yer he needs a solid run sandro doesn't he, bringing him on for 10 minutes at the end of a game we have been terrible isn't doing his confidence any good

would start him tonight, probably the best way to use him at the moment in Europe where its not as rough!

he wont start though

yer mate, im sure people on here sat there and thought oh I hope we play terrible football for the season and waste all this money ive paid for my season ticket, away games watching turgid football JUST so I can say told you so to some superfans I'll never ever meet on the internet

Like that Thomas but i'd have Rooney on the left

Seems a retrograde step, I know, but until we can establish some order of semblance about the place, I would also go with a good old 4-4-2 and a long ball game, to take some pressure off the defence and the midfield too, to some extent.

It would give time for our new midfielders to settle in and help Williams back to what he does best: some old style defending.

The problem is: who’s your target man up-front? I like DCL, but in the Premiership, he has at times proved a little lightweight, although I’d still give him a bit-part role to mix it up a bit. No, and in the absence of an out-and-out striker, I’d be bold and go for Mori who is both strong and brave in the air, and not abashed to wandering forwards during his past playing time when warranted, especially since he doesn’t seem to figure in a defensive role anymore.

Couple this with plenty of crosses into the box, especially with the hopefully not too distant returns of Bolasie and Coleman, they’ll be plenty to keep our opponents’ midfield and defenders busy, and with all those balls pinging about in their box, Rooney, Gylfi and whoever else might be lurking, should chip in with a couple of goals each.

Trouble is, Koeman’s only here to put himself in the shop window, and knowing that the likes of Barca won’t be impressed, he’s unlikely to be brave enough to make such a bold managerial decision.

Ah well, back to more of the same........
