Ronald Koeman discussion

Why don’t you just want Koeman to win every game? Shouldn’t matter who is in charge if we’re winning.

Exactly this. I’d be really happy if he managed to sort us out as it means we’ll be winning again.

Whether he can’t actually do that remains to be seen. If he can’t then we need a new manager.

But as long as we get winning again it’s really all that matters.

I find it dead weird that people dislike Koeman so much but on a seemingly personal level despite not knowing him.

The "hate" is odd isn't it?

For me, I'd say a good portion is faux outrage and bandwagon jumping. People take too much of a black and white approach these days. Koeman (or whoever else) is "THE BEST EVER WE'RE GETTING 4TH AND WINNING THE EL" when we win, and "SACK THE CLOWN NOW GET OUTTA MY CLUB THE CLOWN THE DUTCH MOYES" when things are going less than well.

Don't' get me wrong, I think his days here are numbered and it's hard to see him turning it around - he doesn't even appear interested, but the levels of hate from modern day football supporters in general is a bit strange eh?

Absolutely. I currently hate BT way way more than Ronald Koeman for example.

I'm not sure why the idea is so black and white regarding koeman and the team winning. Either you are a real fan and want to see us winning or you aren't a real fan or a crap one for suggesting it would he better if we lost.

That same mind set kept Martinez here treading water for 2 years. Those wins that fans are meant to expect just kept him in a job hyperthetically every time it was going bad. If it was just a negative 'I want the team to lose because I don't like the manager viewpoint then yeah, fair enough throwing negativity their way. But it's clear things aren't going to magically get better under koeman. Yes there has been a big change at the club but when your manager hasn't got a clue on a team or tactic so far into the season after repeatedly playing the same tactics last season until results starting to come in then is it wrong for wanting change?

For all intents and purposes our season ended in January last season, we were told our best player for 20 years made no difference to where we finished and now we are expected to all rally round the manager despite watching some of the worst performances on the pitch for most young fans memories. Even under moyes when it was bad against the teams not in title races we could at least defend. We haven't even got that, struggle to score, struggle to defend. No fan wanted to lose to Burnley spurs Chelsea United atalanta to name a few but we did anyway.

I just believe that if a manager hasn't got any idea in their second season and 140 plus million spent on first team players, then they aren't the right man for the job. Last season it was to weed out all the players not good enough for the team, there isn't that excuse this year, we as fans shouldn't have to just put up with it for fear of being labelled a bad fan.

I agree, I guess the problem is that in a bad run, people take his supposed negative qualities - bluntness, aloofness, arrogance, whatever floats your boat etc etc, and magnify them in part justification to want the sack.

If we were doing well these same traits would be turned on their heads and people would be praising him to the hilt, regardless of how nice/committed/honest a man he is etc etc.

He was praised for showing brutal honesty with Niasse and for demanding more from Barkley last season, for example.

Times have changed.

EDIT: I should say that coldly looking at performances and results, for me, his time here is up.

I've wanted him out since he started writing his signature on the contract.

Going to the game on Sunday and expecting very little. The football overall has been so dull that talking this week about the last game I saw live, I completely forgot I went to that abysmal 1-1 at home to Swansea last season in November.

He is not a crap manager by any means but, unless he was a steady the ship choice which they hyped up as a big signing, I don't understand the thinking behind putting this guy in charge of what they say is a big project and potentially a big period in our recent history. Why this guy? For me it's like falling into big money 15 years ago and going all out to get Curbishley from Charlton. Utterly boring and unambitious choice. Ffs Everton

Last season we were awful till December then switched things up and were pretty class for the most part. Same happened season before with his Southampton team. Think it's pretty weird to suggest you know it couldn't possibly change again.

I still believe that Koeman can get the team going, he proved last season that he can improve us and he hasn't suddenly lost the ability to coach, organise and develop but he has to get this team to gel and deal with our shortcomings asap.
