Ronald Koeman discussion

Some of the worst football I've seen over my time supporting Everton, never been one to rant and rave about managers, I mean to be honest we have had worse teams than this and worse times than this, even if it's not pretty. Something certainly needs to happen soon though, confidence is hard to build when it gets so low. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Thats not the conclusion I would come to myself. Kendall MK3 was definitely past his peak and Koeman, in my opinion, has never been a good manager. You can bring in whole new teams of players, Emery did it for 3 seasons at Sevilla & won Europa, but you need the following: a manager who knows exactly how he wants to play & can communicate that, the right players to execute the plan. In my opinion we have neither the players or the manager to do this.

I think Howard made a mistake coming back for his 3rd spell, he was given the chance obviously down to his roaring success, the team had fallen too far by then and some of his buys were, well let's just say a bit baffling. However, the one thing Howard Kendall had in abundance was charisma and players would run through brick walls for him. If Ronald had even an ounce of Kendalls personality and man management styles we would maybe seeing different performances than we currently are, results are a different matter mind you.

Always nice to see people actually wanting Everton to win on here.

God bless you, Mikey!

Everyone must want us to win, surely to heck? Summat wrong if we can't beat Brighton, well there obviously is something wrong but you know what I am saying. This is the week we turn up and play them off the park for the first time this season. Never admit defeat until winning is no longer possible, should be our mantra from now on, none of this head down feel sorry for themselves malarkey.

It's like he sends out a load of attackers to try to fool us into thinking he's gone for an attacking setup.... then tells everyone to play as defensive midfielders... Even the CB's which is why we are weak in both attack and defence.... I don't get what he's trying to do at all.

Someone must be able to see some sort of plan, I genuinely can't.

I am seeing people liken him to Moyes a lot, he's literally nothing like.

Moyes had a plan. He wasn't brave against certain opposition... away... but even then he had the exception of the cup run to the final.
He had a gameplan to counter the lack of funds, and a style of football which yielded decent results by building a team to play his style as cheaply as possible.

Martinez also had a style to his play, a kind of slow build up kamikaze attack. Abandon the defence and slowly work the way up the pitch en' mass so to speak which gave us as many drubbings as it saw us beast the opposition, but you could see the objective and he plowed significant funds into certain types of players to play his way.

But it's like Koeman just seems to have bought any names that would come and then say go and play football.

I just cannot see a plan. I see a decent squad mind, and given a plan I think they could perform really well, they just don't seem to know what is wanted from them.

The fact that 3 months into working with all of his new players that there still is no clearly visible plan or adherence to a playing style or a formation is the biggest argument against giving him more time.

How much more time is reasonable to give him to get these players to perform the very basics of what is expected of them?

Personally, I think I've finally reached the point where I don't have any more faith in him to figure it out.

If the entire plan revolved around getting Giroud in then that should have been accomplished first as a priority. Don't want to hear about his missus forcing him to turn us down. We should have both been aware of that possibility and also been working towards other targets and possibly developing other alternatives for our play style that wouldn't have exposed us to this massive risk of entering the season without a clearly defined style of play with the proper players to perform in that system.

It really is inexcusable that he and Walsh have spent that much money on so many players which all collectively look useless without the crown jewel striker to go with them. Are the other players they've signed so limited that without this missing striker they are incapable of looking like a half-capable outfit of players who've seen a round ball before? I don't think that they are and that means Koeman is the problem for me.

If our entire game plan was to float balls into the box for a player that requires such blatant quality wing play, I would be even more cynical of his transfer antics.
I'm still giving him the season though before I want him out, it has to get better, it's impossible not to tbh.

Martinez was better than Koeman has been.

Well we won't be getting 72 points with Koeman! We probably won't get past the group stages of the Europa League with Koeman either. On the flip side though im not sure Koeman will leave here with the worst home record in Evertons modern history on his CV unlike Martinez. With that said though Koeman is making a decent effort at trying to claim that award so far this season!Martinez was a very flawed manager. But at least he had some sort of a plan.We could see what he was trying to do.

Unlike Koeman where the poor man seems as baffled as us with regards to how he wants to set the team up.We don't know what he is trying to achieve and neither does Koeman itself it seems.Martinez didn't have the money that Koeman had to spend either.Still though it did feel like Everton where back as a force for a brief period under Martinez. So yeah i guess Martinez was better than Koeman.

Martinez had his own set of fundamental issues like not practicing defending corners???? Screwed up the defense
Moyes had the issue of not being able to have 2 forwards on the pitch at the same time!!! Destroyed the attack
However Koeman’s particular ailment, playing three or four #10s!@#$ just screws up everything!

Being the eternal optimist, I see him playing Vlasic Niasse and Davies up top with Rooney behind. Then a midfield of a Gueye that's just sits and breaks up opposition attacks and a Schneiderlin that plays actual football. Baines, Jags, Keane, and Kenny with Pickford in goal.

We play cohesive football and destroy the lower league beauts we're playing and help send them back to Division 3 south.

Then seeing this Koeman never plays more than one number 10 at the same time and we finish best of the rest again.
