Usmanov

Usmanov owns a huge slice of Megafon - Russias second biggest Telecom company, he owns a huge slice of mail.ru - another huge internet/google style company in Russia and they own Vkontact - basically Russias facebook.

All nice and such, and they will both expand exponentially over the next ten years into the eastern/china markets, but they will have zero chance of getting a foothold in the saturated markets of europe/america, they are starting from zero against massive established mega corp ztyle companies - they won't even waste the time and effort doing so.

A more likely scenario is post brexit - Britain strike deals with Russia and those deals are funnelled in through Liverpool - IF Usmanov and Liverpool waters are effectively the same entity. but that is a massive leap to draw that conclusion. For starters would take a severing of the bend over and take it up the Arsenal from the USA relationship we have and would be political suicide for any PM to do those deals - as the pro american media would slaughter whoever agreed deals with them.

More likely would be a scenario that sees Usmanov realising that Liverpool waters would be a very sound and high profile investment, as would owning a football team in this league, which - even though currently he doesnt need it, would give him an added security in case he fell out of favour in Russia with Putin etc. That after all was the driving reason behind Abramovic becoming owner of Chelsea in the first place, he made himself so high profile that it protected him (and also showed he was not gonna be meddling in Ruussian politics by making football his focus)

On further thing I'd throw into this particular mix is Joe Anderson. He seems to be keen to find "creative" solutions to get the profile of Liverpool up. While he's not everyone's cup of tea, he seems to grasp the need to build a bit of a niche in a post EU Britain and quite apt at striking relations. You can imagine he fights the cities corner quite sensibly within it and makes sure the city gets some reward from the developments.

We have no idea what agreements have or haven't been discussed with Moshiri and him. Knowing both I would not be surprised if there were lots of additional aspects discussed.

Say what we like about his footy wisdom, one thing Moshiri certainly is, is a gold plated investment advisor and analyser.

Anderson should be doing all he can do to try get a slice of any investments for the council, as long term it would be a massive thing for the city.

A main reason I believe usmanov wil come on board with the club, is precisely down to pr, as owner or major investor he becomes part of the cities firmament and as such his involvement in the real prize of Liverpool waters becomes so much easier and less controversial.

If I was a betting man, I'd lay money on usmanov coming, followed by a Chinese investment for a small % of the club like at city, effectively a sweetener to get their foot in at liverpool waters.

Yes I agree with most of that. The rules will re-start after Brexit and Liverpool look in a decent position to take advantage.

I also agree re Chinese investment, I think there's more to the deal with the bank than first meets the eye.

Usmanov is staying at Arsenal. Source? Himself.
Usmanov has said he will not sell to Kroenke.
He has said he will sell his stake to like minded people who want to get involved
He even told them how much he wants by valuing the club at 2 billion I think it was
He will sell to the right people for the right price and has publicly stated this.
That’s a major sea change from his many previous statements on the subject when he said he will never sell and will pass the shares onto the next generation

Exactly
Moshiri , Usmanov , Corestate , Chinese state Bank all involved in little old Everton
There is something afoot methinks

yes, that something is we can't string 2 passes together on the pitch, let alone muster a shot, however it is all good because the Chinese/Russians/Persians/Uzbekistanis are coming to pump billions into "project Everton"

Right, here's my take on the situation, and feel free to call me a tit. NEA ...

  • Kroenke has had some initial interest from a potential buyer of Arsenal
  • But, that potential buyer doesn't want Usmanov hanging around making life awkward, so ...
  • Kroenke starts the ball rolling on buying out Usmanov, but at a price a wee bit less than what he'll get from his "potential buyer"
  • Usmanov plays hard ball for a bit, then caves in
  • Six to twelve months later, Kroenke sells Arsenal on.

Now, OK, the financial whizz kids among you will bleat "But Arsenal's quoted on the stock exchange, if Kroenke has a potential buyer lined up, he has to inform the city". To which I would say ... they're quoted on NEX ( used to be called ISDX, OFEX and, if memory serves me right, PlusX) which, though it falls under the remit of the FCA, makes the AIM market look tightly regulated, so look on it as the Wild West of the stockmarket.

You read it here first.

Heh, it's fantasy, but if it happens, then I'm the best ITK in the land

The way this thing keeps evolving that’s a possibility
Kroenke may want cash to invest in infrastructure of his American teams although Roydo told me he uses other people’s mobey for this
