Usmanov

Exactly it seems as though Usmanov was hedging his bets.
His first choice was always Arsenal and Everton his fallback position
When the yanks showed interest in buying Everton he had to move quicker than expected and sent Moshiri scurrying down to get a foot in the door.
If he fails to get control or a seat on the board at Arsenal then he has a choice to make.
But at least he now has the choice.

Actually makes complete sense that, an angle I had not considered before.

Was there not a lot of talk about the Yanks just before Moshiri came in?

In defence of ESK, he does not claim to be ITK about Usmanov. He is using his experience and knowledge of football finance to make a judgement call. When someone, writes a piece, backed up by as much background knowledge and as convincing as ESKs, Im listening, but for now he makes a convincing argument.
He's an educated guesser at best, nothing special about him whatsoever.

I reckon this is happening, there's just too many coincidences / clues happening right in front of our face but due to our history and 'nothing good ever happens to us attitude' we don't believe it.

I called the Moshri take over on the day it happened, when only 1 or 2 other seen it coming and it wasn't being talked about as it looked blatantly obvious due to what was happening elsewhere and I'm calling this.

This is it 100%. He has access to more information than I do but ultimately he takes a different interpretation of the information.

He paid 200m for Moshiri shares mate, which would value what usmanov owns now at 400m so 125m less than the kroenke offer, given that everyone commented that at the time he paid moshiri a very generous amount for the current worth of his stake, I dont see how people are now trying to make out kroenke offer is lowball

Thanks for that... maybe it is possible he will sell... I reckon if he does then he will end up here

I think the American bid is a very important consideration in this.

It meant that the Moshiri/Usmanov buy out would have had to have been rushed. Rather than waiting a period of time to sell all shares in Arsenal and reduce selling power because of speed required it made logical sense to send one in to ensure the opportunity wasn't lost.

This helps to explain why Usmanov may not have come straight away.

Yes Bill was talking to yanks and they had seen the books and had expressed an interest.
I’d say Bill was told a lot more by Moshiri and future plans that’s hes letting on
These Billionaires play their cards close to their chest , have 3 yr plans 5 yr plans 10 yr plans etc and know a whole lot more than they let on.
According to some reports in the Irish papers if it’s a hard Brexit then certain American companies will need a base in the EU (Dublin ) and a base in Britain to deal with Britain.
London would be a logical option but if rents and housing costs are too dear then maybe Liverpool Docks with brand new purpose built office space , cheap modern housing for employees , plenty of leisure and retail facilities would fit nicely for them.
The American Tech companies all flocked to the Dublin Docks so why not to Liverpool.
Once they have high quality fibre broadband ( doesn’t Usmanov own a telecommunications company ) that’s all they need
Could be all pie in the sky and wishful thinking but these lads have access to a lot more powerful influential and knowledge people than we will ever know about

Genuine question, do you mean you called the Usmanov takeover rather than the Moshiri one? Just because calling the Moshiri one while it was actually happening doesn't really require a huge amount of foresight as far as I can see.

To be honest we are all educated guessers ( some more educated than others ( in this whole affair.
No one knows what Billionaires have planned and what their fallback positions are , that’s how they make millions.
Usmanov bought into Facebook early and cheap and sold high.
These lads have the best of brains working for them plus have influence in high places so they know government and council plans ( and sometimes lead them ) before anybody else does.
All we do is speculate because unlike Koeman, Usmanov / Moshiri have a plan A Plan B Plan C and all the way down to Plan Z
Fail to prepare , Prepare to fail
