I liked this quote in the echo....

He came on for about the last 15 minutes in last nights England u21 international, this is a brief comment I posted in the Youth Thread :
"DCL came on late for Arbraham and just as I thought he hadn't been in the game much he picked the ball up just outside the right hand side of the box, held it up well waiting for others, cut back inside and bent a curler with his left foot from 20 yards which would have ended up in the top corner if not for a good save. It seems that every time DCL plays at the moment he produces something new. Tough completion for that no 9 spot though from Abraham and others. "

And " The nice bit for me was that 6 months ago he'd have kept running forward and been shepherded out wide, now he held , moved inside and shot with his left foot with a degree of power. He's progressing, and that's a big factor ."

After his City performance I know a few folk weren't happy with Ronald playing him on the left hand side against Hadjuk Split but I thought he was superb. Really took the game to their right back ( who done well tbf ) and should have walked off the pitch with a goal but the keeper stood up tall.

Don't get me wrong, I think Koeman has played him in some bizarre positions in certain games and a lot of stick aimed at Koeman would be he s always looking at a short term/quick fix as he probably won't be here after next season. But with DCL he actually seems to be taking a lot of time with him ( in fact I think he's done this with a couple of the young lads ) and thinking about the long term gain.

@Eggs mentions time again is spot on, if he's fit then chances are he's gping to get picked as he offers us something to base our game around.
 
Torn between wanting him to get the game time he needs and wishing he'd stop getting messed about.

Left wing one week, up front the next, right wing back the one after. It must be tough for him, that, and he clearly isn't a winger.

I'm not too fussed if he plays out wide. Just as long as we never see him in that ridiculous wing back position again.
