That is the impression that I have of RK too. Its a job - there'll be another one - not a big deal. But that is also the impression that
nearly all professional players give as well and that is why local, youth team players are so important for fans because they at least share some attachment for the shirt and club.

That said if RK does manage to win a trophy or two before he moves on then what more can the club ask of him?

Still, it would have been great if EFC could have been managed by Mick Lyons or Kevin Radcliffe.

I disagree with that. The striking situation still wouldn't be resolved in your hypothetical and that is by far the biggest sticking point for people today.

You're right, but there'd be the positive mood that comes with signing players on the last day. And that's one of the false effects that comes with the orchestration of the deadline day frenzy. We didn't sign the players we believe we need on the final day, so the half-dozen plus we got in weeks ago are forgotten. Add that to the poor show at Stamford Bridge, and you'd think the window had been a disaster. The same goes for Arsenal. City have been doing fine in the league so far, but didn't sign Sanchez on the last day and the headlines were all negative. Liverpool, however, have kept a disaffected player and failed to bring in their top summer target, but they battered Arsenal and signed Oxlade-Chamberlain, and so things are rosy. I know we need a centre forward and a defender, and it's hugely frustrating that we didn't get either, but that frustration is falsely compounded by the weird drama and hype of deadline day. It's almost as if the season has been written off already, while, in reality, you can't judge a transfer window until the season's over. The window when we sold Rooney is a perfect illustration of that.

Our window was decent in general, but our performances so far have suggested that it might not have been quite as good as some thought. The Chelsea game was our 7th of the season, and yet we haven't really seen any sort of attacking fluency yet. Our toothlessness has been highlighted and so people reassessed whether we'd brought in what we really needed. Klaassen and particularly Sandro came with high expectations from fans, but so far they've looked underwhelming. It's early days and there's no reason they can't go on to be brilliant, but you also have that nagging 'what if they're not' doubt. From what I've seen of Sandro he doesn't look quite the speedy finisher that some on here were talking about, and he was frankly dreadful in that Chelsea game. Because of that, you start to think maybe the team isn't as strong as I thought it was, and so you become more desperate for new recruits to bolster it.

As you say, we'll see as the season goes on, but it's no surprise that people are concerned given our early performances.

Again, I think you're right in what you say, and I think we're looking at the same picture from just slightly different angles. Losing against Chelsea in such a lacklustre fashion, just before a frustrating close of the window and ahead of an international break, along with a circumstance like Rooney's arrest, has tempered any optimism there was. Although I say you can't judge until the season is over, a season is made up of moments and matches that are all potentially significant. There's a chance with the game against Spurs to dispel the gloom (or deepen it, of course). I guess I just think that, although we've played seven games, there's no rhythm to the season yet. As disappointed and concerned as I am that we didn't get the players Koeman repeatedly said we needed, I'm trying to reserve judgement until Christmas at least.

Not every club got their transfer targets in. The RS, Chelsea, Arsenal and City all went after high profile signings, but struggled to get them over the line. We are no different in that respective.
However we have known since April, Rom was in his way. It is criminal that we have had all that time to identify a replacement (probably longer) and haven't replaced him. Goal scorers win you matches. I fear we are going to have a number of draws this season, that could have been turned into wins, if we had secured a striker of note.

Not making excuses for the lad, but I fail to see how he could have been completely fit, as even in the week of the game he had his foot in that protective boot. Arguably he hadn't done little or no training.

Yeah I don't disagree at all. I'm certainly not writing him off, just saying it's inevitable that people will question whether we've got what we need when performances aren't great.

The premier league is unforgiving, better players than Sandro have struggled to adapt straight away previously. Maybe he is still feeling the effects of the euros he played in the summer and in every game he seems to have taken a 'heavy knock' mind you that is part and parcel of being in the premier league. But I'm prepared to give him time like all our signings, it's no coincidence that Keane, Pickford and Rooney have settled the quickest and they all have premier league experience.

Last season I thought he was a bit of an idiot for his coldness towards the club. Why not just play the game like every other manager does? It's clearly not his style though and it's not going to change any time soon. Whilst results on the pitch are alright it's not a problem.

At least we can be in absolutely no doubt whatsoever that should a better job come up for him he'll be off. Bloody hell, I think he'd even venture across the park to that lot if he was given the opportunity.
