I'm not entirely sure if you're wilfully ignoring my point, or I haven't explained it clearly enough.Indeed. Chelsea are better than Arsenal yes. However how we perform against the top 6 sets a benchmark if we have aspirations of breaking it.
Finishing 6th or higher is the defacto definition of 'breaking the top 6.'
To do that, we only have to pick off the weakest amongst them.
It's not dependent upon us going toe-to-toe with the champions in their backyard, as gratifying as that would be.
Like it or not, we're not aiming to win the league this season. That's just not where we are.
Most Evertonians would, I suspect, settle for clear progression each season. One place better would be reasonable, then hopefully the same next year and so on.
I'd love to see us going to these places and routinely winning, but that doesn't happen after a single summer.
