For what it's worth mate, I've heard that McCarthy to Newcastle is a done deal. Barry to West Brom is also to be done by the end of the week.

We're also going to be looking at Dzeko again if Giroud/Kalinic doesn't materialise.

Haven't heard anything on Dendoncker but that would be an ideal signing to replace the two outgoings from midfield.

..if we are talking about players at clubs abroad, the attraction of playing in the Premier League with the wages on offer is a major pull. I think we undersell the standing of our club at times. Even players already in this league will know the following the team has and the situation with the new owner.

Obviously much depends on who they are playing for at the moment, but there will be plenty of quality players out there who'd love to play for the Toffees.

I agree there are players of quality here and abroad who would like to play for us.

I'm talking about the kind of players who would move the team forward and turn up against the quality teams above us and actually win the game.

That sort of player isn't going anywhere near us and, without wanting to labour the point, I don't see the Europa as being a deal clincher.

I found it interesting he said specifically "at least two signings" ... makes me hopeful of a flurry of a finish.

Not sure about bringing Costa in for a couple of months before he goes Atleti. Will he really be that arsed to put effort in for us? He's a good snide like but would only want on either a) perm deal or b) year-long loan.
