Koemoyes attitude away vs top 6

I'm very conflicted with this.

On one hand i reckon if we went to these grounds and had a go properly we'd get ripped apart at the other end.

Which may happen, but we're not winning playing the other way so may as well have a go at it.

Its about balance for me. It's not an all or nothing, gung ho or everyone behind the ball situation.

The first half against city was a decent example of how to approach it in my opinion, and 60/70 minutes of the game at old Trafford last season. You can be defensively solid and aim not to concede but also carry a real threat on the counter. Unfortunately in both of those games we bottled it late on and gave up on attacking to just try and hold on, which cost us.

Today was really poor, we looked as if it was just damage limitation from kick off.

If you only have 2 central midfielders whose inclination is to drive forward, and 3 players ahead of them whose instinct is to attack, the tactic of sending them out to defend would seem rather daft. Playing two carthorses behind the lot of them doesn't help like. I don't expect Everton to rock up at places like Stamford Bridge and play them off the park, but, given the players available I expect a plan to take the game to them on occasion and give the fans something to remember from the game rather than the dross we keep serving up at these games. Anyway, back to my hols, carry on.

First time this season we have conceded properly , only 2 before were a wonder strike and a defensive error.

We were unbeaten until today over 6 games.

And off the back of 2 away games and onto a 3rd without pretty much most of our midfield through suspension and injury. My count was 4 midfielders out? One rushed back from injury as well.

We have just rebuilt our squad in the space of 3 months.

Are we going to be this negative after every defeat? We were beat by the champions , same as spurs were last week.

We looked crap? That's what 3 away games in 7 days will do to you no matter who you are.

Get some perspective ffs.

Do you get more points if the goals you concede aren't proper ones like?

The difference between it is that if the Croatian doesn't put it in the top corner from 25 yards then they don't score in that game. A poor header aside from holgate and city don't score in the game.

Today defensively we weren't good and rightly concede, but before that we could have easily been on a undefeated streak with 6 wins and none conceded. Defensively I have seen nothing to worry about apart from the lapses from Williams, which in his fairness he has had some good moments as well.

So no it doesn't give us more points , but it's nothing but positive that it took the reigning champions to break our defence down.

But that's childlike logic. You can't isolate only the instances which suit your argument and say everything's fine.

Opposition have hit the woodwork, missed penalties, had shots cleared off the line and had fingertip saves round the post. The ifs and buts work both ways.
