They are an amazing story in the north of sweden - managed by an english guy, Graham Potter.

Some context:
  • Swedens population is 9 million
  • Less that one million I think live north of stockholm.
  • Ostersund is about 600km north of stockholm (actually about the midpoint of Sweden ... so really its not even the north of the country :)
  • There is very little around the area of ostersund other than forest, bears/wolves/fish/berries and mountains.
  • Population of Ostersund is probably less than a typical goodison attendance.
  • Jämtkraft Arena's capacity is about 8-9000 I think
  • They play on a plastic pitch as grass would have a tough time in the 8 month long winter with temps dipping to -40 sometimes :)
So this little tiny club has hired Potter a few years back and since then they have gone from the swedish fourth tier (I have played in the fifth so that shows how low the quality is!) to the now pretty much mid-table stability in the Allsvenskan (premier league if you like) and now in europe.

To qualify they have beaten Panathanikos, Fola Esch and Galatassary!

Plus the missus's family is from around there and so I get free accomodation for the away game :) - though its around 1000km drive for me who lives in the south.

Just think the money they will get from this will be incredible and the attention from playing a premier league team even more so. Pretty sure they will be just as happy to play arsenal - but let it be us they talk about around there for the next few decades :)

So the RS' CL qualifier are seeded worst than us (best comp in the werld!) and i think the top seeds in their group are on par with us as well? This co-efficient doesn't make sense.
 
I think the major interest for me in this draw is more the PL schedule and who we play before and after a EL game.
 

Nice short trips to places without hooligan issues, ideally to play weaker teams so we can win big in the first few games and earn a couple of dead rubbers in which the kids / reserves can play without needing a result.... so:

Copenhagen
Waregem
Lugano

Let the big teams knock lumps out of each other in the group stages, we'll face enough of them in the knockout rounds anyway.

The dates for the games are already fixed so you'd be able to know our league fixtures around these European games before the draw is made.
